The 49ers have released their injury report for their week 8 matchup with the Houston Texans.

Out:

QB Brock Purdy (Toe)

WR Ricky Pearsall (Knee)

C Jake Brendel (Hamstring)

DE Bryce Huff (Hamstring)

DE Yetur Gross-Matos (Hamstring)

Questionable:

LT Spencer Burford (Knee)

SLB Luke Gifford (Hamstring)

CB Deommodore Lenoir (Quad)

With Purdy out, the 49ers will once again turn to Mac Jones as the starter with Adrian Martinez as the #2 quarterback, as for the wide receiver position Pearsall is once again out, and it looks like we may finally see the season debut for Jordan Watkins, unless of course the 49ers decide to elevate or sign one of their 3 practice squad wide receivers to the 53-man roster.

With Brendel out at center the 49ers will go with Matt Hennessy as the starting center, while I’d expect the 49ers to elevate or sign Nick Zakelj to the 53-man roster to be active Sunday as the backup center, while it’s not sure if Burford will be active, the 49ers already have 3 healthy tackles on the 53-man roster in Trent Williams, Colton McKivitz, & Austen Pleasants.

At defensive end the 49ers will definitely need to elevate or sign a defensive end to the 53-man roster with Huff & Gross-Matos out, they did release Trevis Gipson and signed Robert Beal Jr. to the 53-man roster, I’m guessing the 49ers will bring Gipson back to the practice squad, and have him elevated for Sunday’s game, which would be the 3rd and final time Gipson will be able to be elevated this season.

At cornerback I don’t see the 49ers needing to elevate Eli Apple, as the team has 5 other healthy cornerbacks on the 53-man roster, and as for linebacker, if Gifford can’t go then the 49ers will elevate either Stone Blanton or Jalen Graham for Sunday’s game.

So I expect the 49ers to sign Gipson back to the practice squad & elevate him for Sunday’s game, along with Zakelj, and if the team needs to have Blanton or Graham elevated then Zakelj would likely be signed to the 53-man roster.
