2021 Mock Offseason Plan:

It’s now that time to take a look at the 49ers 2021 salary cap, and my potential offseason plan.

The NFL announced that the 2021 NFL Salary Cap has been set at $182.5 million.

According to OverTheCap.com, the RFA tenders will be the following, $4.873 million for the 1st-Round level, $3.384 million for the 2nd-Round level, and $2.133 million for the Original-Round level.

It’s been reported that the 49ers carried over $1,922,299 in 2020 cap space into 2021, while also having $11,340,723 in adjustments/credits.

As of now the 49ers have 30 scheduled free agents for the 2021 offseason, and I will list them below by unrestricted free agents, restricted free agents, & exclusive rights free agents.

First off, if the reports are correct, the 49ers will be releasing Weston Richburg before the new league year begins on March 17, 2021, which would save $3,646,349 with the top 51 rule under my offseason plan, but if they do release Richburg before they tender their RFAs & ERFAs, they’d save $3,716,349, but either way, the savings will be the same in the long run.

This move would leave the 49ers with a dead money hit of $6,966,442 for 2021, while they would save $12,603,651 in 2022, with no dead money.

Now, let’s start with the 49ers 2021 restricted, & exclusive rights free agents.

I expect the 49ers to tender Moseley at the 2nd-round level, which would be $3.384 million, while also tendering Brunskill at the 3rd-year minimum of $850,000.

With the cap rumored to be around $180-$181 million, I wouldn’t restructure any of the 49ers contracts, but rather get Dee Ford to take a significant pay cuts, which would see Ford’s base salary go from $15.15 million down to $1.075 million, which would save the team $14.075 million, please note that Ford has a $11.6 million injury guarantee that vests to fully guaranteed on April 1, 2021.

The reason for taking a pay cut, would be that Ford likes the 49ers, the 49ers would likely eliminate his 2022-2023 contract years, which allows him to be a free agent in 2022, while allowing him to repair his reputation as an injury prone player, also the 49ers could put in some incentives to help him gain back the money he agreed to give up.

Now let’s look at the unrestricted free agents that the 49ers should bring back in my opinion, with APYs, which stands for Average Per Year.

As many know, I have labeled the following players as the biggest priorities for the 49ers.

FB Kyle Juszyzck, I would have the 49ers re-sign him to a 5-year deal, worth $5.25 million a year, with $10 million fully guaranteed, with another $2 million in injury guarantees. His guarantees would consist of his 2021 base salary, his 2022 base salary, a $5 million signing bonus, and $2 million of his 2023 base salary would be guaranteed for injury, and vest to fully guaranteed on April 1, 2022. I would also include yearly $400,000 per game roster bonuses in each year, along with $100,000 workout bonuses in each year, with the breakdown of his cap numbers per year below.

2021- $3.5 million ($2 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $400,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2022- $4.5 million ($3 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $400,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2023- $5.25 million ($3.75 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $400,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2024- $6.5 million ($5 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $400,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)

LT Trent Williams, I would have the 49ers re-sign him to a 5-year deal, worth $22 million a year, with $49.95 million fully guaranteed, and another $16.55 million in injury guarantees. His guarantees would consist of his 2021, 2022, & 2023 base salaries, a $15 million signing bonus, along with $16.55 million of his 2024 base salary, that would be an injury guarantee, but vest to fully guaranteed on April 1, 2024. I would also include $250,000 per game roster bonuses each year, and $100,000 workout bonuses each year, with the breakdown of his cap numbers per year below.

2021- $7.5 million ($4.15 million base salary, $3 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2022- $7.5 million ($4.15 million base salary, $3 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2023- $30 million ($26.65 million base salary, $3 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2024- $31.5 million ($28.15 million base salary , $3 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)

DE Kerry Hyder Jr. to a 5-year deal, worth $8 million a year, with a $5 million signing bonus, with $7.7 million fully guaranteed. His guarantees would consist of his 2021 base salary, and a $3 million signing bonus. I would also guarantee $2.35 million of his 2022 base salary for injury, which would become fully guaranteed on April 1, 2022. I would also include $250,000 per game roster bonuses each year, and $50,000 workout bonuses each year, with the breakdown of his cap numbers below.

2021- $4 million ($2.7 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2022- $6 million ($4.7 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)

CB Jason Verrett to a 5-year deal, worth $6 million a year, with a $5 million signing bonus, with $6.2 million fully guaranteed. His guarantees would consist of his 2021 base salary, and a $5 million signing bonus. I’d also guarantee his 2022 base salary for injury, and fully on April 1, 2022. I would also include $250,000 per game roster bonuses each year, and $50,000 workout bonuses each year, with the breakdown of his cap numbers below.

2021- $2.5 million ($1.2 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2022- $4.5 million ($3.2 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)

CB K’Waun Williams, I would have the 49ers re-sign him to a 5-year deal, worth $8 million a year, with $12.65 million fully guaranteed, with another $2.45 million in injury guarantees. His guarantees would consist of his 2021 base salary, his 2022 base salary, a $3.75 million signing bonus, and $2.45 million of his 2023 base salary being guaranteed for injury, and vesting to fully guaranteed on April 1, 2022. I would also include $250,000 per game roster bonuses each year, and $50,000 workout bonuses each year, with the breakdown of his cap numbers per year below.

2021- $3.5 million ($2.45 million base salary, $750,000 prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2022- $7.5 million ($6.45 million base salary, $750,000 prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2023- $8 million ($6.95 million base salary, $750,000 prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)

Next up, I’d re-sign the following players to cheap 1-year deals.

QB C.J. Beathard – 1-year deal, worth $987,500 ($850,000 base salary, $137,500 signing bonus)
TE Jordan Reed – 1-year deal, worth $850,000
LEO Ronald Blair III – 1-year deal, worth $2 million ($1.075 million base salary, $625,000 signing bonus, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
NT D.J. Jones -1-year deal, worth $1,127,500 ($2.24 million base salary fully guaranteed, only counts $990,000, $137,500 signing bonus) – four-year player qualifying contract –
CB Ahkello Witherspoon – 1-year deal, worth $987,500 ($850,000 base salary, $137,500 signing bonus)

Next up I’d look into these free agents, I would sign Atlanta Falcons C Alex Mack to a 2-year deal, worth $4 million a year, I would include a $1 million signing bonus, along with guaranteeing his 2021 base salary, while having his 2022 base salary guaranteed for injury, and fully on April 1, 2022. I would also include $250,000 per game roster bonuses, and $50,000 workout bonuses each year. Below is the breakdown of the contract.

2021- $3.3 million($2.5 million base salary, $500,000 prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2022- $4.7 million($3.9 million base salary, $500,000 prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)

Next I would sign Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel to a 5-year deal, worth $7 million a year, with $14 million in guaranteed money, $10 million of which is fully guaranteed, his guarantees consist of a $5 million signing bonus, his 2021 base salary, & $2.3 million of his 2022 base salary, and $2.2 million of his 2022 base salary would be guaranteed for injury, and fully on April 1, 2022. I would include $250,000 per game roster bonuses, and $50,000 workout bonuses. Below is a breakdown of his deal.

2021- $3.8 million ($2.5 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2022- $5.8 million ($4.5 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2023- $7.3 million ($6 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2024- $8.3 million ($7 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2025- $9.8 million ($8.5 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)

Lastly I would sign Tennessee Titans CB Desmond King to a 5-year deal, worth $6 million a year, with $10.2 million guaranteed, with $7 million being fully guaranteed. His guarantees would consist of a $5 million signing bonus, his 2021, and I would guarantee his 2022 base salary for injury, with it being fully guaranteed on April 1, 2022. I would also include $250,000 per game roster bonuses, and $50,000m workout bonus. Below is a breakdown of his deal.

2021- $3.3 million ($2 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2022- $4.5 million ($3.2 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2023- $6.8 million ($5.5 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2024- $9.3 million ($8 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)

Of course, after 2020 the following players are eligible for extensions that are currently on the 49ers 2020 roster.

WR 13 Richie James Jr. (Would likely get a multi year deal worth in the $2 million a year range if the 49ers chose to bring him back post 2021)
RT 69 Mike McGlinchey (This one is difficult, if he can develop better, he could get in the range of $12.5 million a year range on a long term deal)
DT 95 Kentavius Street (Likely will be tendered in 2022 at the original round level, which isn’t known, as we have no clue what the 2022 cap will be set at)
MLB 54 Fred Warner (The biggest name on this list, he should get between $15 million to $18 million a year on a long term deal)
SS 33 Tarvarius Moore (Moore could net in the $2.5 million to $3 million a year on a long term deal, he could end up either taking over for Jimmie Ward after 2022, or moving to strong safety if the 49ers end up not re-signing Jaquiski Tartt)

I believe the 49ers will do their best to lockup Fred Warner, like they did with George Kittle, which could only take up between $2 million to $3 million in 2021 salary cap room, while also having a low 2022 salary cap number, similar to Kittle’s 2021 $5.5 million salary cap number.

This is what I would do if I was the 49ers, I would sign Warner to a 5-year extension in 2021, through 2026, worth $18 million a year, with the breakdown of his cap numbers wise below, with a $15 million signing bonus, which prorates at $3 million a year from 2021-2025, and I would also lower his base salary to $2 million.

He would get $29.684 million fully guaranteed, and another $11.5 million in injury guarantees. His total guarantees would consist of a $15 million signing bonus as mentioned before, a $5 million option bonus due in 2022, his 2021, 2022, $5.15 million of his 2023 base salary is fully guaranteed, while the remainder of his 2023 base salary becomes guaranteed on April 1, 2023, and $10.5 million of his 2024 base salary guaranteed for injury, and vests to fully guaranteed on April 1, 2024, for a total of $41.184 million guaranteed.

2021- $6,636,547 ($3.384 million base salary, $3,252,547 prorated)
2022- $5.5 million ($1.15 million base salary, $4 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2023- $10.5 million ($6.15 million base salary, $4 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2024- $19 million ($14.65 million base salary, $4 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2025- $27 million ($22.65 million base salary, $4 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2026- $25 million ($23.65 million base salary, $1 million prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)

A note on Warner’s guaranteed money, I know some will say it’s a bit light, not enough, but I don’t see Warner getting more guaranteed money than what George Kittle got($30 million fully guaranteed, $10 million in injury guarantees, $40 million in total guarantees), and the $41.184 million in guarantees would put Warner behind only Jimmy Garoppolo($74.1 million), Trent Williams($62.5 million), Arik Armstead($45.85 million), & Dee Ford($45 million), while putting him just ahead of George Kittle($40 million), Weston Richburg($28.5 million), & Jimmie Ward($17 million).

I know Arik Armstead got $45.85 million, & Dee Ford got $45 million in guaranteed money, but this team has proven to pay a premium on the defensive line, especially EDGE rushers.

Note that I didn’t include 1st-round picks like Nick Bosa($33,551,866), Mike McGlinchey($18,341,876), Javon Kinlaw($15,488,700), and Brandon Aiyuk($12,351,350), as their 4-year rookie deals are fully guaranteed, as most of 1st-round picks now get most of their deal fully guaranteed, Aiyuk was the 25th pick this past April, while Packers QB Jordan Love went 26th overall, making him the last pick in the 2020 1st-round to get a fully guaranteed 4-year contract, while picks 27-32 got their first 3 years fully guaranteed, and part of their 4th year fully guaranteed.

Next up would be a potential extension for Laken Tomlinson, who I believe could get in the $5.5 million a year on average.

I would sign Tomlinson to a 4-year extension in 2021, through 2025, worth $5.5 million a year, with a breakdown of his cap numbers wise below, with a $3.425 million signing bonus, which prorates at $685,000 a year from 2021-2025.

I would also have Tomlinson lower his base salary from $4.5 million, down to $1.075 million, using the difference as his new signing bonus, a $3.425 million signing bonus.

He would get $7.075 million fully guaranteed. His guarantees would consist of his 2021, 2022 base salaries, a $3.425 million signing bonus, while I would also guarantee his 2023 base salary for injury, and vests to fully guaranteed on April 1, 2023.

2021- $3,845,176 ($1.075 million base salary, $2,270,176 prorated, $400,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2022- $4,113,176 ($2.575 million base salary, $1,038,176 prorated, $400,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2023- $4,538,176 ($3 million base salary, $1,038,176 prorated, $400,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2024- $6,038,178 ($4.5 million base salary, $1,038,178 prorated, $400,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2025- $7.685 million ($6.5 million base salary, $685,000 prorated, $400,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)

This extension would also free up $2.74 million in cap room.

Next up, I would extend Tarvarius Moore, who is entering his final season of his rookie contract, which will pay him just $920,000, so I would extend Moore to a new 4-year extension, averaging $4.5 million a year, with a $3 million signing bonus, which prorates at $600,000 a year from 2021-2025.

I would also include $500,000 per game roster bonuses from 2022-2025, along with $100,000 workout bonuses from 2022-2025, while I would guarantee his 2021, & 2022 base salaries, while guaranteeing $1.25 million of his 2023 base salary for injury, and it would vest to fully guaranteed on April 1, 2023.

Moore would receive $5.42 million in fully guaranteed money, with an additional $1.25 million in injury guaranteed money, bringing his total guarantees to $6.67 million.

Below is Moore’s contract breakdown per year.

2021- $1,716,093 ($920,000 base salary, $796,093 prorated)
2022- $2.7 million ($1.5 million base salary , $600,000 prorated, $500,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2023- $3.7 million ($2.5 million base salary , $600,000 prorated, $500,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2024- $4.7 million ($3.5 million base salary , $600,000 prorated, $500,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)
2025- $6.3 million ($5.1 million base salary, $600,000 prorated, $500,000 per game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus)

Next, I would extend Emmanuel Moseley to a new 5-year deal, worth $3 million a year, I would include $250,000 per game roster bonuses from 2021-2025, and $50,000 workout bonuses from 2021-2025. I would give Moseley a $2.5 million signing bonus, while also guaranteeing his 2021 base salary, for a total of $3.7 million fully guaranteed, with another $1.5 million in injury guarantees for 2022, which would vest to fully guaranteed on April 1, 2022.

Below is a break down of his contract by year.

2021- $2 million ($1.2 million base salary , $500,000 prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)
2022- $2.3 million ($1.5 million base salary , $500,000 prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, $50,000 workout bonus)

This move would save the team $1.384 million in cap room due to the fact that the 49ers will likely tender Moseley at the 2nd-round RFA level, which is projected to be $3.384 million.

After every transaction I’ve done, including restructures, re-signings, and extensions, the 49ers would have $14,462,373 in top 51 cap room, while being $8,037,627 over the effective cap.

Also note that Kentavius Street will be a restricted free agent in 2022, which the 49ers would likely tender him at the original round tender, which would require any team to send a 4th-round pick back to the 49ers if they sign him to an offer sheet.

As far as the future goes, past 2022, the current 49ers would be eligible for extensions after 2022.

WR 19 Deebo Samuel (I can see Deebo getting in the $12 million to $15 million a year range on a long term deal, especially if he continues to break out as the teams #1 WR)
WR 14 Jalen Hurd (Really early to predict what Hurd could get, but likely in the $2 million a year range)

Now obviously, Nick Bosa will have his 5th-year option picked up, but it’s way too early to tell what that 5th-year option number would be.

I want to explain that the idea of these re-signings, and extensions, are to have low 1st-year, and potentially 2nd-year salary cap numbers, so it eases up on the cap, since the cap may not raise as much as originally thought, due to to the coronavirus outbreak.

Now, I do have to look at the future for a bit, in 2022, I have the 49ers $24,750,210 under the 2022 projected salary cap of $203 million.

Ok, now it’s time to show the 2021 cap table after all of these transactions.

Below is the 2022 cap table with all of the re-signings I’ve made.

Next up is 2023, where I have 16 players signed, with the 49ers being $83,508,650 under the projected 2023 cap of $225 million.

Next is 2024, where I have 11 players signed, and $96,251,822 in cap room on a projected $256 million cap.

Note that both WR Brandon Aiyuk, and DT Javon Kinlaw aren’t included, as I can’t properly project their 5th-year option numbers for 2024.

Below is the 2024 cap table.

As for 2025, It’s way too early to project what the 2025 salary cap will be set at, but I think it’s safe to assume it will be a gigantic jump from 2024 to 2025, since by then the revenue losses that are spread over 4 years will be over with.

But, I do have 13 players signed for 2025, FB Kyle Juszcyzk, WR Curtis Samuel, TE George Kittle, LG Laken Tomlinson, LT Trent Williams, DE Arik Armstead, DE Kerry Hyder Jr., MLB Fred Warner, CB Desmond King, CB Emmanuel Moseley, CB Jason Verrett, CB K’Waun Williams, & SS Tarvarius Moore, now of course by then, the 49ers will have likely extended the likes of WR Deebo Samuel, WR Brandon Aiyuk, TE Charlie Woerner, TE Ross Dwelley, C/RG Daniel Brunskill, LG Colton McKivitz, DE Nick Bosa, DT Javin Kinlaw, NT Kevin Givens, WLB Dre Greenlaw, & SS Marcell Harris to new long term deals, as all of these players are very young, and should be apart of the teams core down the road in my opinion.

If the 49ers were to sign all of those players above, they’d have 24 potential core players signed long term. I could also see the team bringing back veterans like RB Raheem Mostert, LEO Ronald Blair III, NT D.J. Jones, & FS Jimmie Ward as all could still very well be at the top of their game, or provide much needed depth.

Some other young players that I can see the 49ers holding onto so they can develop them, are, RB JaMycal Hasty, RB Jeff Wilson Jr., FB/TE Josh Hokit, WR Jalen Hurd, WR Jauan Jennings, RG Dakoda Shepley, LT/RT Justin Skule, NT Darrion Daniels, SLB/MLB Azeez Al-Shaair, WLB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, CB Tim Harris Jr., FS Jared Mayden, P Mitch Wishnowsky, & LS Taybor Pepper.

Ideally, if the players are still playing at a high level, & affordable, the 49ers would have the following players as their core players in 2025, RB Raheem Mostert, RB Jeff Wilson Jr., RB JaMycal Hasty, FB Kyle Juszyzck, WR Deebo Samuel, WR Brandon Aiyuk, WR Curtis Samuel, WR Jalen Hurd, TE George Kittle, TE Ross Dwelley, TE Charlie Woerner, C/RG Daniel Brunskill, LG Laken Tomlinson, LG Colton McKivitz, RG Dakoda Shepley, LT Trent Williams, LT/RT Justin Skule, DE Nick Bosa, DE Arik Armstead, DE Kerry Hyder Jr., LEO Ronald Blair III, DT Javon Kinlaw, NT D.J. Players that I expect to not be on the team come 2025 include are LEO Dee Ford, & PK Robbie Gould.

Of course, you’ll notice I don’t have a single QB listed, as we have no clue what the team will do with Jimmy Garoppolo, who has a no trade clause for 2021, and if the 49ers traded or cut him, they’d save $23.6 million, with just $2.8 million in dead money.

There is a lot of fans who want the 49ers to trade for Texans QB DeShaun Watson, who also has a no trade clause, so he can choose who he wants to go to, but the Texans have said they’re not trading Watson, but if the Texans do deal Watson, the team getting him would have him at $10.54 million in 2021, $35 million in 2022, $37 million in 2023, $32 million in 2024, & $32 million in 2025.

Now that’s affordable for the 49ers, at least for 2021, they’d have a net saving of $13.06 million in 2021, while they’d lose $8 million in 2022, while adding $32 million in 2023, $32 million to 2024, & $32 million to 2025.

But the bigger question is, what compensation will it take to pry Watson away from the Texans? Well, if we look at the recent trades involving quarterbacks, in which the Lions will deal Matthew Stafford to the Rams for Jared Goff, a 2022 1st-rounder, a 2023 1st-rounder, and a 3rd-rounder, while the Eagles will deal Carson Wentz to the Colts for a 2021 3rd-rounder, and a conditional 2022 2nd-rounder, that can become a 2022 1st-round pick depending on Wentz’s play time percentage, which he would hit, if, and a big if, he stays healthy.

So, what would it take to get Watson for the 49ers, well rumors were the Texans wanted multiple 1st-round picks, potentially multiple day 2 picks, and 2 defensive players, now it says just players, but the Texans will want stars or up-and-coming stars, so, someone like Nick Bosa, & Fred Warner may be what the Texans ask for, but no way would I trade either of them to get Watson, this would deplete our defense, especially the front-7, where Bosa is our most lethal EDGE rusher, and Warner is like the teams center fielder, he’s the guy who makes sure everyone is where they’re supposed to be.

Now what would I offer the Texans to get Watson, well I’d offer the 12th-pick in the 2021 draft, the 102nd-pick in the 2021 draft, which is the 3rd-round compensatory pick that they’ll receive for former Defensive Coordinator Robert Saleh being hired at the New York Jets new head coach, while I’d also offer the Texans at least 2 more future 1st-rounders, and to sweeten the deal with picks, I’d offer them multiple day 2 picks, possibly 1 2nd-rounder, their 2022 3rd-rounder, and 2023 3rd-rounder, this would still give the 49ers the following picks in the next few years.

2021 NFL Draft:

Now, I’m not listing compensatory picks for 2022 or 2023, I expect the 49ers to get up to 4 for 2022, with them likely getting a 5th-Rounder for Richard Sherman, due to him having 10 accrued seasons, which limits the comp pick round to a 5th-Rounder, with the exception of QBs, that’s why the Patriots will get a 3rd-Rounder in 2021 for losing QB Tom Brady.

They would also receive a 4th-Rounder or 5th-Rounder for losing Jaquiski Tartt, depending on what Tartt’s APY is, if he gets what Jimmie Ward got, $9.5 million a year, then it would likely be a 5th-Rounder, as the Cowboys will get a 5th for losing Randall Cobb, who got $9 million a year, while the Packers will get a 5th for losing Bryan Bulaga, who got $10 million a year.

If Tevin Coleman can earn enough on the open market, the 49ers would likely get a 6th-Round compensatory pick, while someone like Kendrick Bourne would also net the 49ers another 6th-Round compensatory pick, but this is dependent on Coleman & Bourne’s APY(average per year) is high enough to make the 32-pick cutoff.

The only other players who could net the 49ers compensatory picks are the 5 players I have them re-signing as the top 5 priorities, like with Sherman, Trent Williams would be limited to a 5th-Rounder, while Juszyzck, Hyder, K.Williams, & Verrett would likely be in the 5th-Round area as well, but let’s hope they don’t lose all 5, especially not Trent Williams, & Kyle Juszyzck.

Please do note, if the 49ers were able to sign Curtis Samuel, Alex Mack, & Desmond King, then the 49ers would likely only get 1 compensatory pick, as they will have signed 3 players that would count against them, but these 3 players instantly make the 49ers an even better team.

Also factored into comp picks are how much the player plays during the season, and I believe their stats.

I just want to go back to Miguel, he’s the reason I decided to track the 49ers salary cap using Microsoft Office Excel in 2005, I downloaded a workbook, which showed a mockup of what his or yours should look like.

As for the rest of the 2021 free agents, it’s possible the team re-signs WR Trent Taylor, but I could see a team overpaying him, due to popularity of tiny slot wide receivers, while the likes of RG Tom Compton, & DE Ezekiel Ansah are guys that shouldn’t be main priorities, or given high salaries.

The only thing about these players are, they’d get at most, in my opinion, the league minimum $850,000 base salary, and a $137,500 signing bonus, which is what a veteran minimum benefit deal is, totaling just $987,500 as a cap number.

So hopefully this puts most 49er fans worries to rest, the team can, and will be able to keep their core players together.

Note that by the end of 2022, as stated before, WR Deebo Samuel, WR Jalen Hurd, LT/RT Justin Skule, DE Nick Bosa, ,WLB Dre Greenlaw, & P Mitch Wishnowsky will be eligible for extension, and they’d have a projected $96,980,316 in cap room, of course this will go down with draft picks from both the 2021, and 2022 offseasons. While at the end of the 2023 season, the following 4 players will be eligible for extensions, WR Brandon Aiyuk, TE Charlie Woerner, LG Colton McKivitz, & DT Javon Kinlaw, and they’d have a projected $96,251,822 in cap room, of course that doesn’t include potential draft picks from 2021, 2022, and now 2023. Another thing to remember is the deadline for 5th-year options on Bosa is in May of 2022, and for Kinlaw & Aiyuk, it’s in May of 2023, all 3 will most likely be picked up.

If the 49ers decide to not bring back NT D.J. Jones, I’d expect Kevin Givens or Darrion Daniels to be the teams new Nose Tackle for 2021, both won’t be UFAs until 2024, as they’ll be ERFAs in 2022, costing just $895,000, while they would become RFAs in 2023.

The 49ers can create $10.46 million by restructuring Arik Armstead’s contract before April 1, 2021 when a $7.5 million protected option bonus is due, they decline the option, which would add the $7.5 million to his $6.65 million base salary, to get a $14.15 million guaranteed base salary, this would also get rid of the $1.5 million in prorated bonuses from 2021-2025.

Now if the 49ers exercise his option, which right now, is considered likely to be picked up, they would only save $4.46 million, this would also keep the $1.5 million prorations intact.

The reason I’m bringing up Armstead, is if the 49ers decide to release Dee Ford, if he can pass a physical, they would save $5,726,683, and under my offseason plan the 49ers would be $9,642,317 under the cap if Dee Ford was to take the pay cut, if he doesn’t, then the 49ers would only be $3,915,634 under the cap, so the 49ers could add an additional $10.46 million in cap room if they decide to decline the option before April 1, even if Dee Ford were to take the pay cut, or any type of pay cut.

I don’t anticipate the 49ers restructuring Jimmy Garoppolo’s contract, which if they did, they’d save a max of $18.42 million, but this would require adding 3 voidable years to his deal.

They could also restructure Jimmie Ward’s deal, which would save them a max of $5.42 million by adding on 2 voidable years, he already has a voidable year after 2022.

I truly believe that if the 49ers get in on any free agents when free agency opens on March 17th, it’s Mack, King, & Samuel, but they could definitely look at other options for those 3 positions, like Ravens WR Willie Snead IV, Bears Cordarrelle Patterson, Texans WR Will Fuller V, Jets WR Breshad Perriman, Packers C Corey Linsley, Bengals CB Mackensie Alexander, Steelers CB Mike Hilton, Chiefs CB Bashaud Breeland, Washington CB Ronald Darby, Colts CB Xavier Rhodes, Texans CB Vernon Hargreaves, Packers CB Kevin King, Chargers CB Mike Davis, & Bengals CB William Jackson III.

Of course in order for the 49ers to sign all 3 of the players I think they should be in on, the 49ers may have to let some players I have re-signed walk, or restructure Arik Armstead and/or Jimmie Ward’s contract, so is Desmond King worth losing Jason Verrett or K’Waun Williams?

I imagine if the 49ers sign Mack, they won’t re-sign Ben Garland.

As for Samuel, the 49ers could probably fit him into my offseason plan, but the 2021 cap number needs to be super low, so backloaded deal.

There’s also some conflicting reports on what Emmanuel Moseley is, a RFA or ERFA, he played for the 49ers for 3 seasons, but his 1st season he only played 1 game, while spending the rest of the season on IR, so if they don’t count 2018 as an accrued year, then Moseley would be a ERFA, with a tender of $850,000.
