The 49ers announced today that they have waived defensive tackle/defensive end Spencer Waege ahead of their rookie minicamp.

This roster move was most likely done to fit all 8 UDFA signings that the 49ers should be announcing by tomorrow, as the 49ers would have had 92 players signed or committed, which would put them 1 over their limit since left tackle Isaac Alarcón is the teams’ international pathway program player, meaning he doesn’t count against the 90-man offseason roster, and he’ll likely be on the teams’ practice squad, where he won’t count against the practice squad limit, or the salary cap.
