49ers place LG Aaron Banks on IR, activate SLB Tatum Bethune off of IR, elevate C Drake Nugent, & DE Alex Barrett ahead of their week 17 matchup with the Lions

Ahead of their week 17 matchup with the Detroit Lions tonight, the 49ers have made the following roster moves.

They placed left guard Aaron Banks on injured reserve, which ends his season, while activating strongside linebacker Tatum Bethune off of injured reserve, they also elevated center Drake Nugent, & defensive end Alex Barrett off the practice squad for tonight’s game.

The fact that the 49ers didn’t place left guard Spencer Burford or weakside linebacker Dre Greenlaw, and add right tackle/left tackle Sebastian Gutierrez to the 53-man roster means that right tackle Colton McKivitz will indeed play tonight, as the team needs 8 offensive lineman active to have 48-players active on gameday.

Also, it should be noted that the 49ers apparently claimed cornerback Tre Avery off waivers from the Tennessee Titans, this according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
