The 49ers are preparing to face the Detroit Lions in their home finale on Monday night football, and we know that they’ll be without 4 players, while another 4 are questionable.
Out:
LG Aaron Banks (Knee)
LG Spencer Burford (Calf)
DE Robert Beal Jr. (Ankle)
WLB Dre Greenlaw (Calf)
Questionable:
RT Colton McKivitz (Knee)
SLB Tatum Bethune (Knee)
CB Charvarius Ward (Personal)
FS Ji’Ayir Brown (Ankle)
We already knew the 49ers would be without Banks, and likely Burford, so the 49ers will likely dress Jake Brendel, Nick Zakelj, Matt Hennessy, Dominick Puni, Charlie Heck, & Austen Pleasants, while elevating right tackle/left tackle Sebastian Gutierrez for this game, especially if McKivitz isn’t able to go, but they’ll need to make some roster move, likely placing Banks and/or Burford on injured reserve, while adding possibly Gutierrez, and center Drake Nugent to the 53-man roster.
With Beal out, don’t expect the 49ers to elevate either defensive ends Alex Barrett or Jonathan Garvin, as they have 4 other healthy edge rushers, Nick Bosa, Leonard Floyd, Yetur Gross-Matos, & Sam Okuyianinu on the 53-man roster.
With Greenlaw out, and Bethune questionable, the 49ers only have Fred Warner, Dee Winters, Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, & Jalen Graham healthy at linebacker on the 53-man roster, so they could elevate either weakside linebacker Chandler Wooten, or stronside linebacker DaShaun White.
Even if Ward doesn’t play, there’s no need to elevate cornerback Chase Lucas, as the team has Deommodore Lenoir, Renardo Green, Isaac Yiadom, Nick McCloud, & Rock Ya-Sin healthy on the 53-man roster, while the team would likely go with just 3 safeties, Talanoa Hufanga, Malik Mustapha, & Tashaun Gipson Sr., as they can’t elevate free safety/strong safety Jaylen Mahoney again, unless the team just outright signs him ton the 53-man roster.
So, honestly I don’t know what the 49ers roster moves will look like c0me 1pm pacific/4pm eastern on Monday, but there will be a good amount of roster moves, that’s for sure.
