49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan held his press conference earlier today, and he gave some injury updates on several key 49ers players, saying that the 49ers are planning on opening the 21-day practice window for running back Christian McCaffrey, and hope he plays week 10 at the Buccaneers.
McCaffrey has been out since the beginning of training camp with calf, and achilles issues, mainly achilles tendinitis in both of his achilles, but has had no setbacks, so it’s looking like the 49ers could very well have the man known as CMC back week 10.
He also gave updates on wide receivers Deebo Samuel Sr., & Jauan Jennings, first off the 49ers expect Jennings to be back after the bye week, after missing the past 2 games, and for Samuel, he suffered rib & oblique strains, and he’ll be re-evaluated after the teams bye week, same goes for running back Jordan Mason, who re-aggravated his shoulder injury that he suffered in the 49ers Thursday night win over the Seahawks in week 6.
Other news from last nights game, wide receiver Chris Conley is week-to-week with an hamstring injury, weak side linebacker Dee Winters is in concussion protocol after his hit on a kickoff, and cornerback Renardo Green is day-to0-day with an ankle sprain.
As for weakside linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who suffered a torn achilles in Super Bowl 58, there isn’t a clear timetable for his return, but Shanahan said he thinks Greenlaw will be week-to-week, so hopefully the 49ers can get him back as soon as possible, as the 49ers could really use him on defense.
