The 49ers signed Lions RFA tight end Brock Wright to a 3-year, $12 million offer sheet, with $6 million guaranteed, but today the Lions have matched the offer sheet, meaning he will stay a Detroit Lion for the next 3 years.
The 49ers hoped to upgrade over Charlie Woerner, who got a similar 3-year, $12 million deal with the Atlanta Falcons, so they’ll now either have to look further into the free agent market, or use another draft pick on a tight end, or re-sign Ross Dwelley, which I’m not sure that’s the answer.
