49ers officially release DT Arik Armstead, announce they’ve signed QB Brandon Allen to a 1-year deal, & extended RT Colton McKivitz, & SS George Odum

The made the following roster moves official moments ago.

They’ve released defensive tackle Arik Armstead, which is reportedly a post June 1 cut designation, which will save the team $18,039,412 in cap room, but they won’t have the ability to use that cap room until June 2nd, and the 49ers will incur dead money hits of $10,313,824 in 2024, & $15.547 million in 2025.

The other roster moves include re-signing quarterback Brandon Allen to a 1-year deal, and extended the contracts of right tackle Colton McKivitz thru 2025, & strong safety/special teams ace George Odum thru 2026.
