With the 49ers trading for Chase Young at the trade deadline, the hope was/is that it would improve the teams pass rush, and boy did it, as the team beat the Jags 34-3, and had 5 sacks, with Young having a half a sack, but I’m here to project a potential contract extension for Young.

I would re-sign defensive end Chase Young to a 5-year deal, worth $22 million a year, with a $20.5 million signing bonus, his 2024 base would be fully guaranteed, along with his 2025 base salary, I would also give him a $10 million option bonus in 2025, that would prorate over 5-years, 1 of which would be a void year, and his 2026 base salary would be guaranteed for injury, and fully guaranteed on April 1, 2025.

Young would get $46.625 million guaranteed, $36.625 million being fully guaranteed.

I’d also give him yearly $750,000 per game roster bonuses, and yearly $100,000 workout bonuses.

Below is a breakdown of the structure I would go with.

2024: $6.075 million ($1.125 million base salary, $4.1 million prorated, $750,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)
2025: $11.95 million ($5 million base salary, $6.1 million prorated, $750,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)
2026: $16.95 million ($10 million base salary, $6.1 million prorated, $750,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)
2027: $36.95 million ($30 million base salary, $6.1 million prorated, $750,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)
2028: $36.075 million ($29.125 million base salary, $6.1 million prorated, $750,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)

I went with a heavily backloaded deal, as the salary cap will likely be well over $300 million by 2027 & 2028, plus the team only has Nick Bosa signed for 2027 & 2028.
