Explaining why yesterday was a key date for the 49ers

We’re now officially in April, and heading towards the NFL Draft, but we had some key things happen yesterday for the 49ers, and I’ll explain below.

The following players saw base salaries fully guaranteed for 2023.

WR/KR/PR Ray-Ray McCloud III- $1.08 million

WLB Dre Greenlaw- $3 million

SS George Odum- $665,000

P Mitch Wishnowsky- $1.1 million

Also, since there was no news on Trent Williams’ option years being declined, I’m assuming they were picked up, thus guaranteeing him $10 million more for 2023, while Deebo Samuel saw $16.417 million of his 2024 base salary become fully guaranteed, making it near impossible, likely impossible to cut Deebo Samuel after 2023, so the 49ers are committed to both Trent Williams, and Deebo Samuel.

Looking forward to April 1, 2024, the following players will see their base salaries fully guaranteed next year.

C Jake Brendel- $3 million

WLB Dre Greenlaw- $2.5 million

CB Isaiah Oliver- $1.25 million

P Mitch Wishnowsky- $1 million
