With the Super Bowl over, it’s time to take an updated look at the key offseason dates for the 49ers, both when free agency begins, when contracts void, and contract guarantees.

February 16th: Jimmie Ward’s contract voids

February 28th-March 6th: The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine happens from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

March 7th: 4pm eastern/1pm pacific deadline for teams to franchise or transition tag eligible players.

March 13th-March 15th: Between noon eastern/9am pacific, teams may enter into contract negotiations with scheduled unrestricted free agents, but no deals can be made official until the new league year.

March 15th: At 4pm eastern/1pm pacific, the NFL’s new league year begins, allowing free agent signings, and trades to become official.

April 1st: The following players will have either all, or part of their 2023 base salary guaranteed, or future years base salaries.

  1. WR Deebo Samuel- $16.217 million of 2024 base salary becomes fully guaranteed, along with his $750,000 2024 per game roster bonus becomes fully guaranteed
  2. WR/KR/PR Ray-Ray McCloud III- $1.08 million for 2023
  3. LT Trent Williams- $10 million for 2023 if 2024-2026 option years are exercised
  4. WLB Dre Greenlaw- $3 million for 2023
  5. CB Charvarius Ward- $8.56 million for 2023
  6. SS George Odum- $635,000 for 2023
  7. P Mitch Wishnowsky- $1.1 million for 2023

April 27th-April 29th: The 2023 NFL Draft, live from Kansas City, Missouri will take place over 3 days.

May 2nd: The 49ers must decide on Brandon Aiyuk, & Javon Kinlaw’s 5th-year options for the 2024 season, with the amounts listed below.

  1. WR Brandon Aiyuk – $14.124 million
  2. DT Javon Kinlaw – $10.455 million

July-August: Early in training camp Trey Lance is due a $2,820,478 roster bonus, which is already fully guaranteed.
