The 49ers are having their end of the season presser, and it was revealed that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is not expected back, this coming from head coach Kyle Shanahan.
This makes sense, as the 49ers don’t have the cap room to pay a QB the kind of money Garoppolo will likely get, which is in the $20 million a year range, plus the 49ers will likely get back at least a 4th-round comp pick, at best a 3rd-rounder in 2024.
Is there a scenario in which the 49ers see Jimmy Garoppolo returning in 2023?
Shanahan: "No, I don't see any scenario of that."
