49ers DC DeMeco Ryans set to be the next Houston Texans HC

The Houston Texans are hiring 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans to be their new head coach, to a 6-year deal.

The 49ers will receive a 2025 3rd-round special compensatory pick for Ryans’ hiring, in addition to the 2023 & 2024 3rd-round special compensatory picks the 49ers will receive from Ran Carthon being named the Tennessee Titans new general manager.

The #Texans and #49ers DC DeMeco Ryans have agreed to terms and he’ll be their new head coach, sources say. A homecoming for one of the franchise’s great leaders, as Houston gets its top choice. This will be announced today.
