The 49ers are coming off a huge victory in Super Wild Card weekend over the Seattle Seahawks, but today I want to take a look into 2024, mainly with 5th-year options for Brandon Aiyuk, & Javon Kinlaw included.

Right now, the 49ers have 27 players signed for 2024, accounting for $203,083,621, with $819,000 in dead money from Oren Burks, for a total cap commitment of $203,902,621, leaving them $52,097,379 under a projected $256 million cap, but that’s with just 27 players, so when you add in enough for 51, they’d be down to $33,017,379 under.

Below are the 27 players with their 2024 cap numbers.

  1. WR 19 Deebo Samuel – $28,572,000
  2. LT 71 Trent Williams – $28,009,777
  3. DT 91 Arik Armstead – $25,866,000
  4. MLB 54 Fred Warner – $22,100,000
  5. TE 85 George Kittle – $19,842,575
  6. CB 7 Charvarius Ward – $15,405,000
  7. RB 23 Christian McCaffrey – $12,000,000
  8. QB 5 Trey Lance – $10,851,673
  9. WLB 57 Dre Greenlaw – $9,632,382
  10. FB 44 Kyle Juszczyk – $7,588,750
  11. P 18 Mitch Wishnowsy – $2,825,000
  12. LG 65 Aaron Banks – $2,250,694
  13. SS 30 George Odum – $1,625,000
  14. DE 95 Drake Jackson – $1,590,561
  15. CB 20 Ambry Thomas – $1,425,154
  16. RB 32 Tyrion Davis-Price – $1,393,240
  17. WR 6 Danny Gray – $1,375,883
  18. RG 74 Spencer Burford – $1,153,014
  19. RT 76 Jaylon Moore – $1,135,759
  20. CB 38 Deommodore Lenoir – $1,126,217
  21. SS 29 Talanoa Hufanga – $1,115,038
  22. RB 25 Elijah Mitchell – $1,100,893
  23. CB 26 Samuel Womack III – $1,055,831
  24. LG 63 Nick Zakelj – $1,032,590
  25. NT 93 Kalia Davis – $1,018,003
  26. QB 13 Brock Purdy – $1,004,253
  27. RB 24 Jordan Mason – $988,334

The 49ers will have until early May 2023 to pickup 5th-year options on Aiyuk, and/or Kinlaw, which would come in at $13.988 million for Aiyuk, and $8.432 million for Kinlaw, both would be fully guaranteed the moment they’re picked up, with Aiyuk being a no brainer, and while some feel like the 49ers won’t exercise Kinlaw’s, I believe they will, that way they can have either 1 more year to look at him in 2024, or extend him, in case he breaks out the rest of the way, both in this years playoffs, and in 2023.

If the 49ers pickup both option, the 49ers salary cap room goes down to $29,677,379 with 29 players signed, and with 51 they’d be down to $12,187,379, but this doesn’t include either 2023 or 2024 draft picks, or Nick Bosa’s expected extension, which should see his 2024 cap number coming in around $12 million to $14 million.

Now, I fully expect the 49ers to extend Aiyuk on a long term deal, in the $24 million a year, or more range, but Kinlaw isn’t guaranteed anything, unless he breaks out over the next 18 months.

I’d expect Aiyuk’s 2024 cap number to go from $13.988 million to around $6 million to $8 million, and I don’t forsee any issues with extending both Bosa this offseason, and Aiyuk in 2024, so the 49ers won’t need to trade anyone, or cut anyone, they can indeed afford their core going forward, this is because of the rising cap, thanks to the NFL’s new TV deals, and NFL Sunday Ticket deal with YouTube.

Anyway, people don’t need to worry, the 49ers have the resources to make this work, and as I said, I fully expect it to happen.

So, with that said, I thank you for reading, and follow me on Twitter @49erscap for more salary cap information & tidbits.
