The 49ers beat the Dolphins with rookie QB Brock Purdy, the 262nd, and final pick, better known as Mr. Irrelevant, but the biggest news to come out of the game is that Jimmy Garoppolo has a broken foot, and is out for the season, so let’s dive into what it means salary cap wise.
Going into the season, Garoppolo had a total of $8.45 million in incentives that he could earn this season, with $5.65 million counting against the cap.
Now, I don’t know the snap counts, and percentages, but Jimmy should have earned $100,000 for the 49ers winning the game, and heading into this game, Garoppolo had earned $3.2 million, so he’ll end up making just $3.3 million of the potential $8.45 million, meaning the 49ers will get back a good amount in credits, $2.35 million to be exact.
This is definitely not what Jimmy, or the 49ers were hoping for, they’re 8-4, lead the NFC West, next face the Bucs next Sunday, with just 5 weeks left, hopefully Brock Purdy can step up, after all he has so many weapons, and the best Defense in the NFL.
