Now that we know the 49ers opening day 53-man roster, I thought it’d be a good idea to let everyone know whose contracts are fully guaranteed for making the week 1 53-man roster, along with players who already had their contracts guaranteed for 2022.
- QB Jimmy Garoppolo – $6,500,000
- QB Trey Lance – $825,000
- RB Jeff Wilson Jr. – $1,035,000
- FB Kyle Juszcyzk – $1,120,000
- WR Deebo Samuel – $965,000
- WR Brandon Aiyuk – $1,749,214
- WR Ray-Ray McCloud III – $1,035,000
- TE George Kittle – $1,035,000
- TE Ross Dwelley – $895,000
- TE Tyler Kroft – $895,000
- C Jake Brendel – $895,000
- LG Aaron Banks – $981,528
- LT Trent Williams – $7,250,000
- RT Mike McGlinchey – $10,880,000
- DE Nick Bosa – $895,000
- DE Kerry Hyder Jr. – $1,500,000
- DE Drake Jackson – $705,000
- DE Jordan Willis – $895,000
- DE Samson Ebukam – $5,900,000
- DT Arik Armstead – $1,120,000
- DT Javon Kinlaw – $2,018,064
- NT Hassan Ridgeway – $1,035,000
- MLB Fred Warner – $2,564,000
- MLB Oren Burks – $1,035,000
- CB Charvarius Ward – $1,035,000
- CB Emmanuel Moseley – $4,400,000
- SS George Odum – $1,035,000
- PK Robbie Gould – $4,000,000
- LS Taybor Pepper – $1,055,000
It should be noted that Jimmie Ward’s contract isn’t guaranteed, as he’s starting the 2022 season on injured reserve, but if the 49ers do strike a contract extension, then you can be sure that Ward’s salary would be guaranteed.
Something else I’d like to go over a bit more is the 49ers 2023 salary cap, I went over it a bit the other day, but now I want to dive deeper.
The 49ers have 30 players signed, accounting for $179,212,599, along with $17,085,988 in dead money, for a total cap commitment of $196,298,587, leaving them $28,701,413 under a projected $225 million salary cap, but with just 30 players signed, so when they have 51 signed, they’ll be down to just $12,951,413, but don’t worry, because they’ll have a good amount of credits/adjustments, and I’ll explain below.
The 49ers should get back the following in adjustments/credits in 2023.
Veterans:
QB Nate Sudfeld – $1.035 million
WR Malik Turner – Up to $350,000, at least $277,200
DE Kemoko Turay – At least $277,200, possibly $358,200 or more
CB Dontae Johnson – At least $277,200, possibly $358,200 or more
A total of a minimum of $1,866,600, up to $2,101,400, or more depending on if Kemoko Turay, and/or Dontae Johnson are elevated to play this season, or sign off the practice squad, either by the 49ers, or another team.
UDFAs:
RB Jordan Mason – $30,000
WR Tay Martin – $45,000
RG Jason Poe – $65,000
SLB Marcelino McCrary-Ball – $100,000
CB Qwuantrezz Knight – $25,000
FS Tayler Hawkins – $50,000
A total of $315,000, plus either $1,866,600 or $2,101,400 for a total of either $2,181,600 or $2,416,400.
The 49ers could also get back $5.65 million from Jimmy Garoppolo’s incentives, which would give the 49ers either $7,516,600 or $8,066,400 in additional cap room for 2023, which would give the team $20 million or more in cap room.
Below are the 30 players signed for 2023, with their cap number.

Now, the 49ers are talks with a few players about extensions, but no names are known, but the likes of Emmanuel Moseley, Dre Greenlaw, Azeez Al-Shaair, & Jimmie Ward could be in that list that the 49ers are either discussing extensions with or would like to keep past 2022.
Some other players the 49ers might be looking to extend could be Kevin Givens, Jauan Jennings, Charles Omenihu, & Samson Ebukam, but they won’t be able to keep all of their free agents, so expect them to lose some, but that’s a whiles away, so let’s all enjoy the season opener Sunday in Chicago.
