We’re continuing the  9-part series where I rank each player, from 1-91, & of course today we’re ranking players 31-40.

Note: The reason I’m doing 91 is because the 49ers are able to carry Alfredo Gutierrez on their roster without him counting against the 90-man limit.

  1. CB 26 Samuel Womack III(2025)

2022 Cap Number: $775,831
Chance of making Roster: Lock

Analysis: The 49ers made Womack the 172nd-overall pick, and he’s a player that should compete for the slot cornerback/nickel back spot.

  1. RT 74 Spencer Burford(2025)

2022 Cap Number: $873,014
Chance of making Roster: Lock

Analysis: The 49ers drafted Burford with the 134th-overall pick, and they had a 3rd-round grade on him, so that tells you a lot, and I believe he’ll end up being the new right tackle in 2023.

  1. RG 60 Daniel Brunskill(2022)

2022 Cap Number: $2,433,000
Chance of making Roster: Lock

Analysis: Brunskill is a very good player, but he’s best suited to be a backup, that swing OL who can play pretty much all 5 positions, plus his best spot may be right tackle.

  1. CB 2 Jason Verrett(2022)

2022 Cap Number: $895,000
Chance of making Roster: Lock

Analysis: I know I know, this is really low, because if healthy, Verrett is a top tier cornerback, but the IF is a big IF, as we don’t know how he’ll look after tearing his ACL in week 1 of the 2021 season, but I expect him to at least be on the reserve/PUP list to begin 2022.

  1. SS 29 Talanoa Hufanga(2024)

2022 Cap Number: $885,038
Chance of making Roster: Lock

Analysis: I am very high on Hufanga, I envision him getting plenty of playing time, especially in a 3 safety defensive backfield look, I’m expecting him to take the next step.

  1. WR 86 Danny Gray(2025)

2022 Cap Number: $917,255
Chance of making Roster: Lock

Analysis: The 49ers made Gray the 105th-overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, and I expect him to make a big time difference, especially on offense, where his speed will really help stretch the defense, & make the offense way more dynamic.

  1. RB 22 Jeff Wilson Jr.(2022)

2022 Cap Number: $1,085,000
Chance of making Roster: 50/50

Analysis: The 49ers re-signed Wilson to a 1-year, $1.085 million deal, with $530,000 fully guaranteed, so he should end up on the roster, but he could be one of those surprise cuts/trades, but he should be among the backups to Elijah Mitchell.

  1. RB 28 Trey Sermon(2024)

2022 Cap Number: $1,107.485
Chance of making Roster: Lock

Analysis: The 49ers didn’t play Sermon much, but I have faith in him, and believe he’ll get plenty of snaps at running back, along with Tyrion Davis-Price.

  1. RB 32 Tyrion Davis-Price(2025)

2022 Cap Number: $928,826
Chance of making Roster: Lock

Analysis: The 49ers shocked a lot of fans when they chose Davis-Price with the 93rd-overall pick, but it was a need, and he’s a very good back, who should come in, & compete for the #2 spot behind Elijah Mitchell.

  1. SS 30 George Odum(2024)

2022 Cap Number: $1,435,000
Chance of making Roster: Lock

Analysis: The 49ers were very serious about upgrading their special teams unit, and getting Odum, along with Ray-Ray McCloud, & Oren Burks were great signings that should really improve the special teams.
