Next up in our series of what I think the 49ers’ key free agents could get, with Jordan Willis next on the list.

Willis was acquired by the 49ers during the 2020 season from the New York Jets, along with a 2022 6th-round pick for a 2021 7th-round pick, and he’s proven to be a solid player in the 49ers defensive line rotation.

Now, I have Willis pegged in the $2 million to $3 million a year range.

I’d also expect the 49ers to include yearly $100,000 per game roster bonuses, & yearly $100,000 workout bonuses.

As for guarantees, I can see him getting $1.535 million guaranteed, all fully guaranteed.

And, with all of this said, I thank everyone for reading this article, as always you can follow me on Twitter @49erscap, or leave a comment below, and I’ll get back to you.

  1. Who are your comps? I have been following you long enough to know you don’t just pull those figures out of your hat so I would like to know your comps fore Willis, Keys, DJ Jones and especially Tomlinson. While I would love Tomlinson to be that reasonable to re-sign, it seems like he would go for twice that amount.

I would also enjoy discussing the strategy of upgrading our offensive line. It is my opinion that Banks was drafted to eventually move over to left guard where he played in college in anticipation of Tomlinson landing a big contract with another team. Tomlinson is playing in the pro bowl today and most of the guards in the pro bowl are either making eight figures or going to make eight figures. Can the 49ers still pull McGlinchey’s fifth year option?

    1. As much as I love Laken, there’s no way he gets $16M a yr, that’s Joel Bitonio & Joe Thuney money, I can definitely see him getting $10M a yr, so that’d be around what Cody Whitehair, Erick Flowers, & Andrew Norwell make, all in the $9M-$10M range.

For Willis, I just went with a number I felt would be good for both side, with the small sample size.

For Key, even though there is a small sample size, he had a career year, so I’m looking at something like what Ebukam got, or Dante Fowler Jr., & Mario Addison

For DJ, I’m looking at guys like Brandon Williams, Poona Ford, Larry Ogunjobi, & Star Lotulelei, all in the $6M+ range.

I can see Banks taking over at LG, with someone like Jaylon Moore at RG, or Colton McKivitz, if Laken’s not retained.

No, they can’t rescind McGlinchey’s 5th-year option, it was fully guaranteed when they exercised it.
