Continuing with my look at what the 49ers’ top free agents could get, we now move onto cornerback K’Waun Williams, who signed a 1-year deal, worth $2,377,500 this past offseason, but he was signed using the Fourth Year Qualifying Contract, which is a form of veteran minimum salary benefit deal.
Now, K’Waun tested the free agent market in 2021, and as I said above, he signed a 1-year, veteran minimum salary benefit deal, proving that he didn’t have many suitors, as Desmond King got a 1-year, $3 million deal, while other Mike Hilton got $6 million a year from the Bengals, & Troy Hill, who got $4.5 million a year, just showing how crazy the market was, & likely will be again.
I believe K’Waun can get between $3.5 million to $6 million a year, depending on how hot, or cold his market is, as mentioned above, the top slot cornerbacks from the 2021 offseason got anywhere from $3 million, $4.5 million, and $6 million a year.
I’d expect the 49ers to include yearly $250,000 per game roster bonuses, & yearly $100,000 workout bonuses.
As for guarantees, I can see him getting in the $9 million range, with $5 million being fully guaranteed, as Desmond King got $3 million fully guaranteed on his 1-year deal, Mike Hilton got $6 million fully guaranteed, and Troy Hill got $4.5 million fully guaranteed, showing how all over the place the 2021 market was for slot cornerbacks.
I know the $9 million is more than King, Hilton, & Hill, but K’Waun has proven to be one of the best slot cornerbacks in the game, and this is likely his last chance at a good sized multi-year contract.
