On Friday February 4, 2022, the San Francisco 49ers hired Anthony Lynn to be the next Assistant Head Coach for the 49ers. In the 2021 season Lynn was the Offensive Coordinator for the Detroit Lions. His coaching career started in 2000 as a Special Teams Assistant. He coached running backs for the Jaguars, Cowboys, Jets & the Bills. He was the Assistant Head Coach for the Jets and Bills and was made Interim Head Coach of the Bills 2016. After his tenure ended with Buffalo, he became the Head Coach of the Los Angeles Chargers from 2017-2020. He went 33-32 (.508) as a Head Coach In the regular season and he’s 1-1 in the Post Season.

Anthony Lynn was a former running back in the NFL. He played for the Denver Broncos 1993, played for the 49ers from ’95-’96 and back to the Broncos from ’97-’99. He retired in 2000 with Broncos due to injury.

What makes this hire special is, his ties and connections to the Shanahan’s. Lynn was a running back for Mike Shanahan’s Denver Broncos and he earned two super bowl rings during his tenure. Kyle Shanahan was the ball boy, so let’s just say they know each other quite well. Another speciality from this hire is, Anthony Lynn has head coaching experience. He has not only dealt , but also managed some of the NFL’s best talent such as Derwin James, LeSean McCoy & Reggie Bush.

Coach Lynn may attract two people to this organization. The first that comes to mind is Houston Texans Passing Game Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach, Pep Hamilton, which a young Trey Lance looking to take the Keys to the Range in San Francisco could certainly benefit from. Pep Hamilton may be the one to help further develop Trey Lance. Since we’re talking Quarterbacks, the 49ers will need a back up QB for Trey Lance and the number 1 option that comes to mind is NFL’s Journeyman Tyrod Taylor.

I look forward to going into more depth and details about these options so please stay tuned. Don’t forget to comment and feel free to share the Good News!
