Today we take a look at the last 2019 draft pick, and likely the biggest name, defensive end Nick Bosa.
I would normally give comps, but I think it’s easy to say that Bosa will outdo what T.J. Watt got, which was a total of $112.011 million, averaging $28,002,750 a year, with $80 million guaranteed, all of which is fully guaranteed.
So, for Bosa, I think it’s safe to assume that he’ll get a 5-year deal, worth $150 million, averaging $30 million a year, with $100 million in guaranteed money, with $82 million fully guaranteed.
I would include a $30 million signing bonus, and I would do something similar that the 49ers did with Fred Warner, only take Bosa’s training camp roster bonus, add a little under $1.7 million in cap room, to make his prorated amount $6 million, while his 2022 cap number goes up by around only $1.7 million.
I’d also bet on Bosa getting an option bonus in 2023, likely in the $10 million to $12.5 million range, which would prorate over 5-years.
As for the per game roster bonuses, & workout bonuses, I’d expect somewhere around $750,000 a year in per game roster bonuses, and $100,000 a year in workout bonuses.
