Ok, so yesterday we started ranking each player, from 1-90, where we started ranking players 90-81, and today we rank players 80-71.

80. WR Austin Watkins Jr.

2021 Cap Number: $668,333
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Watkins, I believed had a chance at making the teams roster when the 49ers signed him as a UDFA out of UAB, but with other WRs showing up during the teams short offseason workout program, I think he’s more likely a longshot, but he should be brought back to the teams practice squad, where they can develop him.

79. DT Kentavius Street

2021 Cap Number: $1,002,550
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: The former 2018 4th-rounder out of N.C. State, just hasn’t been able to carve out of a role with the 49ers since he first played for the 49ers in 2019, where it seemed like the 49ers forced Street into the game to try and see what he could bring, but unfortunately he just hasn’t shown much, whether it’s due to effects of his torn ACL he suffered during pre draft workouts, or just something to do with the player, he’s unlikely to make the 2021 roster, baring injuries to the interior defensive line.

78. DE Daeshon Hall

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Another player on the defensive line that likely won’t be on the active roster, unless injuries happen, or in Hall’s case, if the team keeps 5 defensive ends on the opening day 53, but his best bet is to be signed to the teams practice squad.

77. DE Alex Barrett

2021 Cap Number: $780,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Another player on the defensive line that likely won’t be on the active roster, unless injuries happen, or in Barrett’s case, if the team keeps 5 defensive ends on the opening day 53, but his best bet is to be signed to the teams practice squad.

76. FS Kai Nacua

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Nacua is more than likely destined to be on the practice squad at best, as the team has the likes of former UDFA Jared Mayden, and vets Tony Jefferson & Tavon Wilson ahead of him.

75. CB Tim Harris Jr.

2021 Cap Number: $660,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Here’s another defensive back that’s best shot is to make the teams practice squad, especially when the 49ers invested 2 draft picks into the cornerback room.

74. WR River Cracraft

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Cracraft appeared in a few games last year for the 49ers, but didn’t really show much, so he’s definitely a longshot to make the teams roster, so his best chance is to be brought back to the teams practice squad.

73. RG Dakoda Shepley

2021 Cap Number: $660,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Shepley, who was signed last year, when the CFL canceled their 2020 season, spent all of 2020 on the 49ers practice squad, and Shepley provides a lot of versatility, being able to play right guard, as well as center, but I think with the team drafting 3 interior offensive lineman in the last 2 drafts, makes it more likely that Shepley ends up on the 49ers practice squad.

72. C Jake Brendel

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Brendel, a 2020 opt-out, is likely the teams 3rd or 4th string center, depending on where the team views Dakoda Shepley, as a guard or center, but Brendel’s best shot is to show something, so the team signs him to the teams practice squad.

71. QB Nate Sudfeld

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: 50/50

Analysis: Sudfeld was brought in from the Eagles, and was guaranteed $252,000, but that number is the exact same number that Sudfeld would make if he’s signed to the teams practice squad, as he’ll battle with Josh Rosen for the teams 3rd QB spot, but if he is on the teams practice squad, the team will lose $252,000, as the team won’t get that back until 2022.
