Back in late June, I ranked all the players on the 49ers roster at the time, into tiers, so starting today, I’ll be doing a 9-part series, where I rank each player 1-90, starting off with 81-90.

90. LT Alfredo Gutierrez

2021 Cap Number: $660,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: The only real reason I put Gutierrez at 90, is the fact that we really have nothing to go off of, he’s apart of the NFLs International Pathway Program, he’ll most likely be put on the teams practice squad, where he won’t count against the teams salary cap, nor against the teams practice squad limit, and he won’t be allowed to play, but should be allowed to practice with the team.

89. LT Corbin Kaufusi

2021 Cap Number: $660,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Kaufusi is a guy, who has yet to play a down in the NFL as an offensive lineman, he played collegiately at BYU, where he was a defensive lineman, but was converted into an offensive lineman when he entered the NFL, his chances are very much long at making the 2021 team, his best chance is that he shows something in preseason, and the 49ers sign him to the teams practice squad.

88. RG Isaiah Williams

2021 Cap Number: $780,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Williams was on the 49ers practice squad to end the 2020 season, he did appear in a few games, but again, like with Kaufusi, his best bet is to show something, and be brought back to the teams practice squad.

87. TE Josh Pederson

2021 Cap Number: $662,666
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Pederson, the son of former Eagles’ Head Coach Doug Pederson, was signed as a UDFA out of Louisiana, but with the likes of Charlie Woerner, & MyCole Pruitt ahead of him, his best chance is to be signed to the teams practice squad, which I think is likely to happen.

86. WR Andy Jones

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Jones was signed after the team waived Marqise Lee, but with the likes of Mohamed Sanu Sr., Travis Benjamin, Jauan Jennings, and others ahead of him, his chances are very slim at making the roster.

85. WR Bennie Fowler

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Just like with Andy Jones, Fowler’s odds at making the opening day roster are very slim, while he is a veteran, he hasn’t done much in his career, and with several younger players ahead of him, the 49ers will likely go with those players before keeping, and guaranteeing someone like Jones or Fowler’s contract.

84. CB Mark Fields II

2021 Cap Number: $780,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Fields was claimed off waivers early in the offseason, when the Vikings waived him, but he’s clearly very very low on the teams depth chart, and is unlikely to make the teams active roster, with the practice squad being a more likely destination for Fields.

83. CB Ken Webster

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Webster was signed last season off of the Miami Dolphins practice squad, but he didn’t play much, and when he did, he wasn’t that great, certainly better than Brian Allen, but like with Fields, Webster’s best chances are making the teams practice squad.

82. WR Kevin White

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: White, a former 1st-round pick by the Chicago Bears, ended the 2020 season on the 49ers practice squad, where he did appear in a handful of games, but he just didn’t look good, so his best chance of staying with the 49ers is by being one of 6 players with 3 or more accrued years allowed on the teams practice squad.

81. MLB Jonas Griffith

2021 Cap Number: $660,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: Griffith is a longshot at making the 2021 roster, as he’s behind the likes of Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, James Burgess Jr., Azeez Al-Shaair, among others, so like with most of the players ranked in this list, his best shot appears to be at making the teams practice squad.
