So yesterday I went over Alex Mack’s contract, so today we’re going to look at Samson Ebukam’s contract.
Ebukam signed a 2-year deal, worth $12 million, with $5 million fully guaranteed, which consists of a $3.5 million signing bonus, and his 2021 base salary.
Now let’s take a look at Ebukam’s deal by year.
2021:
Cap Number: $3,720,588
Base Salary: $1,500,000 (fully guaranteed)
Prorated Bonus: $1,750,000
Per Game Roster Bonus: $500,000
Cash Earned: $5,500,000
2022:
Cap Number: $8,250,000
Base Salary: $5,900,000
Prorated Bonus: $1,750,000
Per Game Roster Bonus: $400,000
Workout Bonus: $100,000
Cash Earned: $6,500,000
Now this was somewhat of a surprise, seeing as how Ebukam struggled as a Ram at times, with one of the issues being having him play as more as an outside linebacker, trying to cover, when his strength is being a pass rusher, which is why I can see Ebukam having a very good first year, which could lead to a new deal in 2022, that lowers his cap number.
If anyone can get the best out of Ebukam it will be DL Coach Kris Kocurek, who is known as one of the best, if not the best, DL Coach in the NFL.
It’s also shown with the 49ers, during their super bowl run, they had 48 sacks, with Arik Armstead leading to way with 10, while defensive rookie of the year Nick Bosa had 9.
While it also showed last year when Kerry Hyder Jr. had a career high 8.5 sacks.
Hopefully the 49ers have found a player that was just in the wrong scheme, and needed a change of scenery, with him earning a long term spot opposite Nick Bosa on the edge.
And if for some reason Ebukam doesn’t work out in his first season, then the 49ers can release him, and save his entire salary.
So with all of this said, I thank everyone for reading article, as always you can follow me on Twitter @49erscap, or leave a comment below, and I’ll get back to you.
