Notes:

I have them keeping 7 WRs with Deebo on the 53 so he doesn’t have to miss 6 games, I went with Pettis & Jennings over the likes of Nelson.

On the O-Line, I have us keeping 9, with Spencer Long retiring, it’s almost a lock that Tom Compton makes the 53 man roster, and with the news that Weston Richburg may start the season on reserve/PUP, they will have to either bring in another interior lineman that plays center and guard, or go with someone like Ross Reynolds, who I believe has experience at center while playing for Iowa in college.

On the D-Line, I have us keeping 9, I have Blair and Taylor on PUP, I think it’s possible they may keep 10 if Blair is ready, with 9 active on game days. If we were to cut Hyder we’d only save $950,000. If we cut Jordan we save $750,000.

At LB, I have 5, with Mark Nzeocha being cut, saving $1.45M, leaving just his workout bonus of $50,000 as dead money.

At DB, I have 10, with both Verrett and Taylor making it, which would also guarantee their contracts for 2020, as they’re both vested veterans. I see Taylor making it due to him being a good Slot CB, and no one else has experience at the slot behind Williams.

As for the salary cap, the 49ers, with 75 players signed(53 active, 5 injured, and 16 PS), they only have $1,201,339 in cap room. The team may have to restructure Jimmy Garoppolo and/or Dee Ford’s contracts, as that’s not a lot of money to head into 2020 with, so don’t expect any FA signings or trades that involve players making above the league minimum.

If, for instance the 49ers decide to keep Mark Nzeocha, that would mean that he would take up an additional $1.45M, well, he’d replace a player making at least $610K, so he’d take up at least $840,000, which would then leave the team with only $361,339 in cap room, so a restructure or 2 is going to be needed to be done, practice squad salaries are $8,400 a week for players with no more than 2 accrued years, and $12,000 for players with at least 3 accrued seasons.

Also, if the 49ers decide to keep C.J. Beathard on the 53-man roster, he’s scheduled to make $946,179, which means replacing a player making at least $610,000, would result in a loss of $336,179 in cap room, again, the team would absolutely need to restructure either Garoppolo and/or Ford’s deals, that would save a combined $28.504 million in cap room.

My cap numbers include Kittle’s $3.6M in prorated bonus, but I’m not sure his exact structure, so they could have lowered his base salary from $2.133M to $825K, which would save $1.308M in cap room.

To those who may not be aware, practice squad salaries do count against the cap.

As for 2021, before knowing Kittle’s 2021 cap number, I have the 49ers at $18,563,378 in cap room with just 33 players signed, so they’ll still need to restructure some deals in 2021 to have enough room to retain the likes of Trent Williams, Kyle Juszcyzk, Richard Sherman, K’Waun Williams, Jaquiski Tartt, D.J. Jones, and others.

Here are potential savings:

Jimmy Garoppolo:

2020: $18,312,000
2021: $18,420,000 without 2020 restructure, $13,842,000 with 2020 restructure

Dee Ford:

2020: $10,192,000
2021: $11,425,000 without 2020 restructure, $8,877,000 with 2020 restructure

Kwon Alexander:

2021: $9,180,000 restructure, $6,102,377 Pre June 1 cut/trade, $13,400,000 Post June 1 cut/trade

Weston Richburg:

2021: $5,420,000 restructure, $1,709,436 Pre June 1 cut/trade, $8,350,000 Post June 1 cut/trade

Arik Armstead:

2021: $4,460,000 restructure

Jimmie Ward:

2021: $5,860,000 restructure, $3,500,000 Pre June 1 cut/trade, $5,500,000 Post June 1 cut/trade

Total Savings:

2021 restructures: $54,765,000 without Garoppolo/Ford 2020 restructures, $76,143,000 with Garoppolo/Ford 2020 restructures
