This past Friday I went over the 49ers 2022 salary cap situation, along with my 3rd mock offseason, but today I want to do a different mock offseason, with some differences.

I currently have the 49ers re-signing the following players.

RB Raheem Mostert – 1-year deal, worth up to $5 million with incentives, with a $1,764,706 2022 cap number
RB Trenton Cannon – 1-year deal, worth $1.035 million, but only $895,000 counts against the cap.
WR Trent Sherfield – 1-year deal, worth $1.035 million, but only $895,000 counts against the cap.
C Jake Brendel – 1-year deal, worth $1.035 million, but only $895,000 counts against the cap.
LG Laken Tomlinson – 5-year deal, worth $50 million, averaging $10 million a year, with $21.345 million in guaranteed money, and a $2.965 million 2022 cap number.
RT Tom Compton – 1-year deal, worth $1,272,500, with a $152,500 signing bonus, and a $1,047,500 2022 cap number.
DE Arden Key – 4-year deal, worth $16 million, averaging $4 million a year, with $6.5 million in guaranteed money, and a $1.285 million 2022 cap number.
DE Jordan Willis – 2-year deal, worth $4 million, averaging $2 million a year, with $1.535 million in guaranteed money, and a $1,443,824 2022 cap number.
NT D.J. Jones – 5-year deal, worth $30 million, averaging $6 million a year, with $10 million in guaranteed money, and a $2.5 million 2022 cap number.
SLB Azeez Al-Shaair – 3-year deal, worth $10.5 million, averaging $3.5 million a year, with $4.465 million guaranteed, and a $1,298,333 2022 cap number.
CB Jason Verrett – 1-year deal, worth up to $5 million, with a $1,764,706 2022 cap number
CB K’Waun Williams – 3-year deal, worth $10.5 million, averaging $3.5 million a year, with $6.71 million in guaranteed money, and a $2,455,882 2022 cap number.
SS Jaquiski Tartt – 1-year deal, worth $2,522,500, with a $152,500 signing bonus, and a $1,272,500 2022 cap number.

Next were my free agent signings from other teams.

QB Tyrod Taylor – 1-year deal, worth up to $10 million with incentives, and a $5 million 2022 cap number.
RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson – 3-year deal, worth $18 million, averaging $6 million a year, with $9.21 million in guaranteed money, and a $4,485,294 2022 cap number.
CB Levi Wallace – 5-year deal, worth $40 million, averaging $8 million a year, with $25 million in guaranteed money, and a $2.685 million 2022 cap number.

And finally, my extensions.

WR Deebo Samuel – 5-year deal, worth $102.5 million, averaging $20.5 million a year, with $58.615 million in guaranteed money, and a $4,919,519 2022 cap number.
DE Nick Bosa – 5-year deal, worth $152.5 million, averaging $30.5 million a year, with $100 million in guaranteed money, and a $12,500,339 2022 cap number.
WLB Dre Greenlaw – 4-year deal, worth $14 million, averaging $3.5 million a year, with $5 million in guaranteed money, and a $1,245,429 2022 cap number.
FS Jimmie Ward – 4-year deal, worth $45 million, averaging $11.25 million a year, with $15.065 million in guaranteed money, and a $6,711,588 2022 cap number.

I also have the 49ers restructuring Arik Armstead’s contract to get the team under the salary cap, as I have them projected to be at least $6.842 million over the cap after tendering their 5 ERFAs(JaMycal Hasty, Jauan Jennings, Colton McKivitz, Kevin Givens, & Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles), and with my 3 RFA(Daniel Brunskill, Kentavius Street, & Azeez Al-Shaair) re-signings, they’d be $8.555 million over the 2022 salary cap.

I also have the 49ers getting Samson Ebukam taking a pay cut, from $5.9 million, to $1.035 million, savings $4.865 million, which would give the team $6,733,383 in salary cap room before they trade Jimmy Garoppolo, which I do believe will happen shortly after the beginning of the new league year on March 16th, which would give the 49ers $32,383,383 in salary cap room to begin free agency, with 50 players signed.

Now, I must mention that this mock offseason plan(s) I’ve done aren’t what I think the 49ers will do, but more of what I’d do if I were the 49ers.

So, first up would be the team’s UFAs, with them re-signing the following in this different mock offseason plan.

NT D.J. Jones – 5-year deal, worth $45 million, averaging $9 million a year, with $18 million in guaranteed money, and a $2.5 million 2022 cap number.
CB Jason Verrett – 1-year deal, worth up to $5 million, with a $1,764,706 2022 cap number
CB K’Waun Williams – 1-year deal, worth up to $5 million, with a $2,455,882 2022 cap number.
SS Jaquiski Tartt – 1-year deal, worth $2,522,500, with a $152,500 signing bonus, and a $1,272,500 2022 cap number.

Extensions wise, I wouldn’t change anything.

As for outside free agents, I would change some of them.

I’d still sign Tyrod Taylor to a 1-year deal, worth up to $10 million, with a $5 million 2022 cap number, fully guaranteed, with $5 million in incentives for play time, yards, touchdowns, etc…

Next, I would sign Carolina Panthers’ cornerback Stephon Gilmore to a 3-year deal, worth $30 million in base value, $42 million with incentives, averaging $10 million a year base wise, $14 million if he achieves all of the incentives, with $15.12 million guaranteed, $10.12 million being fully guaranteed.

I would give Gilmore a $6 million signing bonus, along with yearly $500,000 per game roster bonuses, and yearly $100,000 workout bonuses, along with 2022’s base salary being fully guaranteed, along with $3 million of his 2023 base salary being fully guaranteed, with the remaining $5 million being guaranteed for injury, and fully on April 1, 2023.

His contract breakdown is below.

2022- $3.72 million ($1.12 million base salary, $2 million prorated, $500,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)
2023- $7.6 million ($5 million base salary, $2 million prorated, $500,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)
2024- $13.08 million ($ million base salary, $2 million prorated, $500,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)

Gilmore’s incentives would be similar to what Richard Sherman got, $2 million for All-Pro, $1 million for making the Pro Bowl, and $1 million for playing 90% of the 49ers defensive snaps.

Next up, I would sign Chicago Bears’ wide receiver/returner Jakeem Grant to a 2-year deal, worth $5 million, averaging $2.5 million a year, with a $2.035 million guaranteed, all fully guaranteed.

His guarantees would be a $1 million signing bonus, & his 2022 base salary being fully guaranteed.

His contract breakdown is below.

2022- $1.885 million ($1.035 million base salary, $500,000 prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)
2023- $3.115 million ($2.265 million base salary, $500,000 prorated, $250,000 per game roster bonus, & $100,000 workout bonus)

So, the 49ers as of now would have $19,423,763 in 2022 salary cap room, based on the top 51 rule, but only $968,763 when counting every player on the roster.

Here’s my current 2022 mock draft for the 49ers.

RD 2(#61) – CB Kaiir Elam, Florida
RD 3(#93) – EDGE DeAngelo Malone, Western Kentucky
RD 3(#102) – WR Christian Watson, North Dakota State
RD 4(#133) – C Alec Lindstrom, Boston College
RD 5(#172) – TE Daniel Bellinger, San Diego State
RD 6(#186) – CB Akayleb Evans, Missouri
RD 7(#252) – LG Harry Miller, Ohio State
RD 7(#255) – WLB Mike Rose, Iowa State
RD 7(#262) – SLB Merlin Robertson, Arizona State

FS(2): 1 Jimmie Ward(2026), & 33 Tarvarius Moore(2022)
SS(2): 3 Jaquiski Tartt(2022), & 29 Talanoa Hufanga(2024)

SPECIAL TEAMS:

PK(1): 9 Robbie Gould(2022)
P(1): 18 Mitch Wishnowsky(2022)
LS(1): 46 Taybor Pepper(2022)

I would have, as of now, Mike McGlinchey, & Jason Verrett on reserve/PUP to begin the season, while left guard Harry Miller, & cornerback Akalyeb Evans would be on the team’s practice squad.

With this roster, the 49ers would have $180,092,789 in committed salaries for the active players, $16,222,609 in dead money, for a total cap commitment of $196,315,398, giving the 49ers $17,058,763 in salary cap room, and with their practice squad, which would cost $2,902,500, they’d have $14,156,263 in salary cap room for 2022.

When we look at 2023-2026, the 49ers would have the following.

2023- $21,305,712 ($10,805,712 top 51), with 37 players signed, on a $225 million cap.
2024- $31,925,341 ($16,025,341 top 51), with 31 players signed, on a $256 million cap.
2025- $73,211,170 ($47,171,170 top 51), with 20 players signed, on a $280 million cap.
2026- $127,849,500 ($89,794,500 top 51), with 8 players signed, on a $300 million cap.

So, as I said before, the 49ers would still be able to extend Brandon Aiyuk, while having the likes of Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Trent Williams, Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead, Fred Warner, & Jimmie Ward all signed to big money deals, along with Laken Tomlinson, & D.J. Jones signed too long term deals, while adding much needed help at cornerback with Stephon Gilmore.

And, with all of this said, I thank everyone for reading this article, as always you can follow me on Twitter @49erscap, or leave a comment below, and I’ll get back to you.
