San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will undergo shoulder surgery per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a thumb injury in week 17 against the Tennessee Titans. He tore a ligament in his thumb and is set to have surgery to repair the torn ligament in the off-season.

Unfortunately, Jimmy Garoppolo injured his shoulder in the NFC Wild-Card win against the Dallas Cowboys. Garoppolo completed 16 for 25 for 172 yards and one interception. He had a rating of 67.4

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, “He won’t throw for 16 weeks, but should be ready for the season if all goes well.”

Garoppolo has an expected trade coming with various teams, according to multiple sources. This surgery will not hurt his trade value, per Adam Schefter.

Has Jimmy Garoppolo’s trade value been tarnished? Teams usually won’t trade for injured players or players coming off of surgery. If anything, Garoppolo proved a few things this past season. He is one gritty player, and he played through injury. These two factors may be what gets the deal done for Jimmy Garoppolo and his new team.
