Notes:

I have them keeping 7 WRs with Deebo on the 53 so he doesn’t have to miss 6 games, I have finally decided to trade or cut Pettis, which would save $961,870 in cap room.

On the O-Line, I have us keeping 9, including Long and Compton, with McKivitz as the swing T. If we were to say cut Compton, we’d save $1.95 million. If Richburg starts on PUPm then either Ross Reynolds or Justin Skule make the 53.

On the D-Line, I have us keeping 9, I have Blair and Taylor on PUP, I think it’s possible they may keep 10 if Blair is ready, with 9 active on game days. If we were to cut Hyder we’d only save $950,000. If we cut Jordan we save $750,000.

At LB, I have 5, with Mark Nzeocha being cut, saving $1.45M, leaving just his workout bonus of $50,000 as dead money.

At DB, I have 10, with both Verrett and Taylor making it, which would also guarantee their contracts for 2020, as they’re both vested veterans. I see Taylor making it due to him being a good Slot CB, and no one else has experience at the slot behind Williams.

As for the salary cap, the 49ers, with 72 players signed(53 active, 3 injured, and 16 PS), they only have $3,936,947 in cap room. Again they can save $1.95M by cutting Compton, but that savings would actually only be $1.34M due to a player making at least $610K taking his spot, so don’t expect any more roster moves above the league minimum.

My cap numbers include Kittle’s $3.6M in prorated bonus, but I’m not sure his exact structure, so they could have lowered his base salary from $2.133M to $825K, which would save $1.308M in cap room.

To those who may not be aware, practice squad salaries do count against the cap.

As for 2021, before knowing Kittle’s 2021 cap number, I have the 49ers at $20,141,957 in cap room with just 30 players signed, so they’ll still need to restructure some deals in 2021 to have enough room to retain the likes of Trent Williams, Kyle Juszcyzk, Richard Sherman, K’Waun Williams, Jaquiski Tartt, D.J. Jones, and others.

Here are potential savings:

Jimmy Garoppolo:

2020: $18,312,000
2021: $18,420,000 without 2020 restructure, $13,842,000 with 2020 restructure

Dee Ford:

2020: $10,192,000
2021: $11,425,000 without 2020 restructure, $8,877,000 with 2020 restructure

Kwon Alexander:

2021: $9,180,000 restructure, $6,102,377 Pre June 1 cut/trade, $13,400,000 Post June 1 cut/trade

Weston Richburg:

2021: $5,420,000 restructure, $1,709,436 Pre June 1 cut/trade, $8,350,000 Post June 1 cut/trade

Arik Armstead:

2021: $4,460,000 restructure

Jimmie Ward:

2021: $5,860,000 restructure, $3,500,000 Pre June 1 cut/trade, $5,500,000 Post June 1 cut/trade

Total Savings:

2021 restructures: $54,765,000 without Garoppolo/Ford 2020 restructures, $76,143,000 with Garoppolo/Ford 2020 restructures
