49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan had his presser today, and we have our injury reports for the 49ers-Cardinals game this Sunday at Levi’s Stadium, with 2 players out, & 3 players questionable, with them all listed below.

With Burford out, the 49ers will most definitely have right tackle Austen Pleasants active as the Swing Tackle, and Shanahan said if Colby can’t go then next man up would be either Drew Moss or Nick Zakelj, so I expect the 49ers to go with Trent Williams, Connor Colby or Drew Moss, Jake Brendel, Dominick Puni, & Colton McKivitz starting on the offensive line, with Matt Hennessy as the backup center, Drew Moss or Nick Zakelj as backup guard, and Austen Pleasants as the swing Tackle, though the 49ers could elevate Brandon Parker who signed with the 49ers practice squad this week..
Watkins is out, while Jennings is questionable, so I’d expect the 49ers to go with Ricky Pearsall, Kendrick Bourne, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, & Skyy Moore for sure at wide receiver, if they need to elevate one it’s most likely to be Russell Gage Jr, as he was active week 1, so he has 2 more games that the can be elevated for, while Shanahan said it’s possible Watkins goes on injured reserve, where they already have 3 players than can come back, wide receiver Jacob Cowing, tight end George Kittle, & defensive tackle Kevin Givens, with Kittle a definite to return, & Givens already counting as one of maximum of 8 players that can return from IR.
Shanahan said that Brock Purdy likely won’t be the starter, but he has a chance to be the #2 quarterback, but if not the 49ers will have to elevate quarterback Adrian Martinez, who I should note can’t be the emergency 3rd quarterback since he’s not on the 53-man roster.
Shanahan also said that it’s possible Burford will need surgery, so my best guess is the 49ers will elevate Gage, if Jennings can’t go, & either Martinez, if Brock is a no-go, or as I stated it could be Nick Zakelj if Colby can’t go, or Parker if the 49ers don’t trust Pleasants enough to be the swing Tackle, so the 49ers will have a tough decision to make tomorrow at 1pm pacific/4pm eastern.
I should add that if the 49ers are going to place Jordan Watkins on injured reserve, I think it’s smarter to do so when Demarcus Robinson comes back, or the 49ers need to have Martinez on the 53 to be the emergency 3rd QB, but again we’ll see tomorrow.
