The 49ers announced several roster moves, as they’ve re-signed tight end Eric Saubert, center Ben Bartch, & cornerback Rock Ya-Sin to 1-year deal, and to make room on the 53-man roster, the 49ers placed center Jon Feliciano, & cornerback Ambry Thomas on injured reserve, along with waiving defensive end Sam Okuayinonu.
Feliciano, & Thomas were kept on the initial 53-man roster so that the 49ers could place both on injured reserve with the intention to have them return later in the year, which is why the 49ers released Saubert, Bartch, & Ya-Sin, as none of them went through waivers.
In other news, the 49ers lost 3 players via waivers, running back Cody Schrader to the Los Angeles Rams, right guard Jarrett Kingston to the Carolina Panthers, & cornerback Samuel Womack III to the Indianapolis Colts, while tight end Cameron Latu decided to sign with the Cleveland Browns practice squad, & middle linebacker Jalen Graham decided to sign with the Washington Commanders practice squad.
Depending on the terms of Saubert, Bartch, & Ya-Sin’s deals, the 49ers would be $15,897,713 under their adjusted cap of $297,358,834, and this is assuming that Saubert counts $1,056,500 against the cap, Bartch $1.125 million, & $1,026,500 for Ya-Sin, but there’s a possibility that they signed deals that only count $985,000 against the cap, each of course.
Also, it’s possible that the 49ers could get some cap relief from dead money that the 49ers are currently carrying for those 3, which would be $300,000 for Saubert, $302,400 for Bartch, & $985,000 for Ya-Sin, as those were the base salary guarantees that the 49ers gave them this offseason, if not, then the 49ers will get those back in 2025 as a credit.
