It’s been a busy week for the 49ers, and I apologize for not reporting on any of it, as many know I recently had surgery on both of my hands for severe carpal tunnel syndrome, basically they did a endoscopic release of the carpal tunnel, but I’m back, so onto the 49ers news from the past week or so.
First off we already know wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has requested a trade, but he did show up for training camp, but he isn’t practicing, thus he’s in holding in, while left tackle Trent Williams is actually holding out, while being subject to $50,000 fines each day he misses, thus he’s been placed on reserve/Did Not Report list, which opens a roster spot for wide receiver Malik Turner, who signed a 1-year deal today with the 49ers.
Earlier this week, the 49ers placed defensive end Drake Jackson, weakside linebacker Dre Greenlaw, & strong safety Talanoa Hufanga on active/PUP list, & wide receiver Ricky Pearsall on active/NFI list, but all 4 will still count against the teams’ 90-man roster, which does include an international pathway program player, left tackle Isaac Alarcon.
When it comes to the hold-in, & hold-out, I firmly believe that the 49ers will come to an agreement with both Aiyuk & Williams before the season begins.
