Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted today that the 3-year, $12 million deal that the 49ers signed Lions RFA tight end Brock Wright to has $6 million guaranteed, now he didn’t say if it’s fully guaranteed, or partially fully guaranteed.
The only way I can see the Lions not matching this offer sheet is if the 49ers guaranteed Wright’s first 2-years’ base salaries, plus gave him a good sized signing bonus.
They may have front loaded it, but I think that’s less likely, as the team has just over $7.5 million in cap room before this offer sheet, and we have no clue what Wright’s 2024 cap number would be.
Now, normally I would say the deal wouldn’t be worth $12 million, or $4 million a year, but since Wright is a RFA, & the 49ers aren’t looking to do the Lions any type of favor by negotiating a deal for the Lions, the deal will likely comes in at or above the reported $12 million.
