So a big topic around the 49ers is how will they be able to sign their draft class, if they do indeed use all current 11 draft picks, and I’m hear to show you how they can do it without creating any additional cap room.
Right now, according to OTC, the 49ers projected rookie cap pool would be $9,297,729, but the team would only really need $3,297,729 in top 51 money, so you would say that the 49ers don’t have that much, as I have them just under $3 million in salary cap room, but I’ll explain why that’s not an issue.
Only the 3 3rd-round compensatory picks would count in full against the top 51, while the remaining picks’ prorated bonuses would count, that’s where the $3,297,729 comes into play, but those 3 3rd round picks would replace 3 players making $940,000 each, which comes to $2.82 million, meaning the team only needs $477,729 in top 51 cap room to sign their draft class, of course this can change if the 49ers don’t select 11 players, whether they trade up, down, or really all around the draft board.
So, a restructure isn’t needed for the 49ers to sign their draft class, nor is a Nick Bosa extension needed to sign their picks, except that the savings will help cover the full $9.297 million needed when the season begins.
So, the 49ers don’t need to restructure anyone else, unless they decide to bring in someone that will cost them more money than they already have, so I hope this clears things up.
