Today Jimmie Ward’s contract officially voided, leaving $6.395 million in dead money for 2023, and Ward will now be an unrestricted free agent come March 15th.

The reason for Ward’s contract voiding is due to the team adding in void year(s) when they signed him, and also restructured his deal.

It seems unlikely that Ward returns, as he doesn’t want to play in the slot, and he wants top tier Safety money, something I don’t see the 49ers doing for the soon to be 32-year old.
