Today I want to update everyone, post week 7, pre week 8, on what the 49ers adjustments/credits could look like for 2023.
The 49ers gave out a good amount of guaranteed base salaries, to either veterans, or undrafted free agents, so let’s begin.
We’ll begin with the veterans.
QB Nate Sudfeld – Sudfeld received a 1-year, $2 million deal from the 49ers, but was cut at final cuts, but was signed by Detroit to a 1-year deal, worth $1.035 million, which is guaranteed, since he’s a vested veteran, and so far he’s earned $460,000 of it.
WR Malik Turner – Turner got a 1-year deal from the 49ers, with $300,000 guaranteed, and he’s on the 49ers practice squad, where he’s been elevated twice, & has earned $248,667.
WR Marcus Johnson – Johnson signed a 1-year deal with the 49ers, with $250,000 guaranteed, and he’s on the Giants practice squad, where he’s made $294,811 thus far.
DE Kemoko Turay – Turay signed a 1-year deal with the 49ers, worth $1.7 million, with $1 million fully guaranteed, and the 49ers can get a max of $865,178, as he was on the practice squad for 1 week, and then signed to the 53-man roster, thus far he’s earned $367,956.
CB Dontae Johnson – Johnson signed a 1-year deal, that included $560,000 guaranteed, but he’s on the practice squad, and thus far he’s earned $218,844, so if the 49ers want to get back the full $560,000, he’d have to be signed to the 49ers, or another teams’ 53-man roster.
Now let’s look at the undrafted free agents.
WR Tay Martin – Martin got $45,000 guaranteed, and thus far he’s earned $80,500.
RG Jason Poe – Poe got $65,000 guaranteed, and thus far he’s earned $92,000.
SLB Marcelino McCrary-Ball – McCrary-Ball got $100,000 guaranteed, and has earned $92,000 thus far.
CB Qwuantrezz Knight – Knight received $25,000 guaranteed, and he’s earned $92,000 thus far.
FS Tayler Hawkins – Hawkins got $50,000 guaranteed, and has earned $92,000 thus far.
Between the veterans, and rookies, the 49ers should get back $3,093,378, as long as things stay status quo.
Next is per game roster bonus credits for 2023.
LT Trent Williams – Williams has missed 3 games thus far, and he has a $750,000 per game roster bonus, the 49ers would get $44,118 in adjustments/credits in 2023.
DT Arik Armstead – Armstead has missed 3 games thus far, and he has a $750,000 per game roster bonus, the 49ers would get $132,353 in adjustments/credits in 2023.
CB Emmanuel Moseley – Moseley tore his ACL, so he will miss the final 12 games of the season, but the 49ers will get back 6 games worth of his $500,000 per game roster bonus, so the 49ers would get $176,471 back in adjustments/credits in 2023.
FS Jimmie Ward – Ward missed 5 games, and will get back 4 games worth of his $500,000 per game roster bonus, which comes out to $117,647 in adjustments/credits in 2023.
These add up to $470,588.
All in all, the 49ers will get back $3,563,966, and they could get back $152,500 from Ross Dwelley’s LTBEs, which would bump it up to $3,716,466.
Now, if Kyle Juszczyk does indeed miss this Sunday’s game, the 49ers would get back $23,529 from his $400,000 per game roster bonus, pushing the total amount of adjustments/credits to $3,631,613 without Dwelley’s $152,500, and $3,784,113 with Dwelley’s $152,500.
While the $3.784 million isn’t a lot, but it’s still something, and the 49ers can use any, and all extra cap room in 2023 to retain their own.
