With the 49ers extending Deebo Samuel, that leaves Nick Bosa as the next guy in line for a big money extension, but that likely won’t happen until 2023, but that’s not going to stop me from trying to predict what kind of contract Bosa could get, so let’s go over that.

Right now, the highest paid EDGE rushers are below.

T.J. Watt(Pittsburgh Steelers)- $28,002,750 APY, $80 million guaranteed, all fully guaranteed

Joey Bosa(Los Angeles Chargers)- $27 million APY, $102 million guaranteed, $78 million fully guaranteed

Myles Garrett(Cleveland Browns)- $25 million APY, $100 million guaranteed, $50 million fully guaranteed

Khalil Mack(Los Angeles Chargers)- $23.5 million APY, $90 million guaranteed, $50 million fully guaranteed

Maxx Crosby(Las Vegas Raiders)- $23.5 million APY, $53 million guaranteed, $26.515 million fully guaranteed

So, as you can see, T.J. Watt is the highest as far as average per year, but Joey Bosa, Nick’s brother, is the highest in guarantees, total, while Watt has more fully guaranteed, which makes sense, as Watt was the most recent to sign a new contract.

Now, we can’t talk top defensive players without mentioning Los Angeles Rams’ All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald, who signed a 3-year deal, worth $95 million, which comes to $31,666,667 APY, with $65 million guaranteed, and $46.5 million fully guaranteed, so expect Nick Bosa to break that $31.6 million APY.

Now, as far as a Nick Bosa contract goes, my initial thoughts were in the $32 million a year range, but that’s had the 49ers, and Bosa agreed to a new deal this offseason, but with them waiting till 2023, I believe, with another great year, maybe with defensive player of the year honors, he could command as much as $35 million a year.

Guarantees wise, I expect Nick to get in the $110 million range, with $80 million to $85 million of it being fully guaranteed, and the reason for these numbers are due to the fact Nick has the same agent as his brother Joey has, so we can expect a similar contract, as far as high guarantees, and high average per year.

If we go off of Deebo Samuel’s deal, I’d expect Bosa to get yearly $750,000 per game roster bonuses, and $200,000 workout bonuses, which I can see being guaranteed on a certain date, just like with Deebo, as well as having Nick’s first 2 years base salaries being fully guaranteed, plus part of his 3rd-year being guaranteed, with the remaining amount being guaranteed on April 1 of the previous year, so it would be guaranteed on April 1, 2024, while his 3rd-season would be in 2025, similar to George Kittle, Fred Warner, Trent Williams, and Deebo Samuel’s deals.

I don’t expect the 49ers to have a hard time getting Nick signed, as he’s even said he loves being a 49er, he loves the organization, and he sees it going smoothly, which I agree with.
