The 49ers & Alex Mack have agreed to a restructured deal, where Mack lowered his 2022 & 2023 base salaries down to $1.12 million for 2022, & $1.165 million for 2023.

I now have the 49ers $4,713,784 under their 2022 adjusted cap.

  1. What’s the benefit of this move now? If he’s going to retire, then shouldn’t he just put in his retirement paperwork and the niners would get the full cap relief?

Or does this signal the niners are wanting to sign guys now and don’t want wait for the retirement paperwork to go through?
