We’re continuing the 9-part series where I rank each player, from 1-91, & of course today we’re ranking players 41-50.
Note: The reason I’m doing 91 is because the 49ers are able to carry Alfredo Gutierrez on their roster without him counting against the 90-man limit.

DT 90 Kevin Givens(2022)
2022 Cap Number: $895,000
Chance of making Roster: 50/50
Analysis: I believe Givens makes the team as the backup to Arik Armstead, but he’ll have to battle it out with Maurice Hurst Jr. for that spot.
-
DE 75 Jordan Willis(2022)
2022 Cap Number: $970,000
Chance of making Roster: 50/50
Analysis: If the 49ers keep 6 edge rushers, it comes down to Willis, & Charles Omenihu, and it’s anyone’s ball game.
-
DE 94 Charles Omenihu(2022)
2022 Cap Number: $2,540,000
Chance of making Roster: 50/50
Analysis: If the 49ers keep 6 edge rushers, it comes down to Omenihu, & Jordan Willis, and it’s anyone’s ball game.
-
NT 98 Hassan Ridgeway(2022)
2022 Cap Number: $1,800,000
Chance of making Roster: Lock
Analysis: The 49ers signed Ridgeway to a 1-year deal, with $1 million fully guaranteed, so he should be on the teams 53-man roster come week 1, and be one of the 48 active players come week 1.
-
WR 6 Marcus Johnson(2022)
2022 Cap Number: $895,000
Chance of making Roster: 50/50
Analysis: The 49ers liked Johnson so much that they signed him to a 1-year deal, with $250,000 of his base salary fully guaranteed, which means he should at least be on the teams’ practice squad, but he’ll have to battle with Malik Turner for that 6th WR spot.
-
WR 17 Malik Turner(2022)
2022 Cap Number: $945,000
Chance of making Roster: 50/50
Analysis: The 49ers signed Turner to a 1-year deal, with $300,000 fully guaranteed, and if the team decides to go with 6 wide receivers, then he would be my choice, but he’s going to have to battle it out for that spot.
-
CB 27 Dontae Johnson(2022)
2022 Cap Number: $1,047,500
Chance of making Roster: 50/50
Analysis: The 49ers gave Johnson $712,500 in fully guaranteed money, but with the 49ers drafting 2 cornerbacks, I now view Johnson, who was once a lock, as a player fighting for a roster spot, and while he’s not the best, he is a good backup, & special teamer.
-
LEO 55 Dee Ford(2022)
2022 Cap Number: $6,949,997
Chance of making Roster: 50/50
Analysis: Ford restructured his deal earlier this offseason, and reports said that he would be released, which is very possible, but if he’s healthy, he’s a very good edge rusher, but that’s a big IF on being healthy.
-
CB 36 Tariq Castro-Fields(2025)
2022 Cap Number: $738,003
Chance of making Roster: Lock
Analysis: The 49ers drafted Castro-Fields with the 221st-overall pick, and I envision him being one of the teams’ 6 or 7 cornerbacks, and be a contributor on special teams.
-
CB 38 Deommodore Lenoir(2024)
2022 Cap Number: $896,217
Chance of making Roster: Lock
Analysis: Lenoir was off to a very good start in 2021, but he didn’t get a lot of playing time after the first 2 weeks, but I expect Lenoir to be a key special teams guy, and compete for the slot cornerback/nickel back spot.
