We’re continuing the  9-part series where I rank each player, from 1-91, & of course today we’re ranking players 51-60.

Note: The reason I’m doing 91 is because the 49ers are able to carry Alfredo Gutierrez on their roster without him counting against the 90-man limit.

  1. SS 14 Leon O’Neal Jr.(2024)

2022 Cap Number: $708,333
Chance of making Roster:
50/50

Analysis: The 49ers signed O’Neal as a UDFA out of Texas A&M, and I expect him to battle for a potential 5th safety spot.

  1. C 61 Dohnovan West(2024)

2022 Cap Number: $710,000
Chance of making Roster: 50/50

Analysis: The 49ers signed West as a UDFA out of Arizona State, and they gave him a good amount of guaranteed money, so I expect West to have every opportunity to be the backup center, but he’ll have to battle Jake Brendel, Jason Poe, & maybe Nick Zakelj.

  1. LG 63 Nick Zakelj(2025)

2022 Cap Number: $752,590
Chance of making Roster:
50/50

Analysis: The 49ers took Zakelj with the 187th-overall pick, and he has some versatility, as he can play left tackle, left guard, and may take some snaps at center, as the team is looking for it’s future starting center.

  1. LT 68 Colton McKivitz(2022)

2022 Cap Number: $895,000
Chance of making Roster:
Lock

Analysis: A former 5th-round pick, McKivitz played very good in 2021, when needed, especially in the week 18 must win game in LA, so I envision him as the teams’ backup left tackle.

  1. NT 93 Kalia Davis(2025)

2022 Cap Number: $738,003
Chance of making Roster:
Lock

Analysis: The 49ers took Kalia Davis with the 220th-overall pick, and he is a lock because he will spend his rookie season on the reserve/NFI list, as he’s recovering from a torn ACL from October 2021, but I envision him being a big part of the team in 2023, especially at nose tackle.

  1. C 64 Jake Brendel(2022)

2022 Cap Number: $895,000
Chance of making Roster:
50/50

Analysis: Brendel is likely the teams’ top choice at center if Alex Mack doesn’t return for 2022, but he will have to battle Dohnovan West, Jason Poe, & maybe Nick Zakelj for that backup center spot.

  1. TE 82 Ross Dwelley(2022)

2022 Cap Number: $1,047,500
Chance of making Roster:
Lock

Analysis: Despite the fact that the 49ers signed Troy Fumagalli, I still have Dwelley as a lock, with the fact that the 49ers didn’t address the position in the draft says a lot, so hppefully Dwelley can play well.

  1. TE 89 Charlie Woerner(2023)

2022 Cap Number: $940,258
Chance of making Roster:
Lock

Analysis: Woerner overtook Ross Dwelley’s spot as the #2 TE, and I expect that to continue in 2022, with Woerner developing more into a pass catching threat.

  1. MLB 48 Oren Burks(2023)

2022 Cap Number: $1,408,000
Chance of making Roster:
Lock

Analysis: The 49ers signed Burks to a 2-year deal, and he should help shore up the team special teams unit, especially kick coverage.

  1. DT 96 Maurice Hurst Jr.(2022)

2022 Cap Number: $945,000
Chance of making Roster:
50/50

Analysis: Hurst will have to battle with Kevin Givens for the backup spot to Arik Armstead, he should be on the teams’ practice squad.
