Yesterday I went over the 49ers 2022 salary cap situation<\/a>, and today I want to take a look into 2023, based on my current mock offseason.<\/p>\n

Currently, the 49ers have 17 players signed for 2023, with a cap commitment of $122,334,200, along with $11,304,999 in dead money, for a total of $133,639,199 in cap commitments, which would give the 49ers, if the cap is $225 million, $91,360,801 in cap room, but that\u2019s with 17 players signed, so when you add in enough players to get to 51, they would have $65,860,801 in 2023 cap room.<\/p>\n

The 17 players currently signed for 2023 are below, with their current cap numbers.<\/p>\n

    Now, in my mock offseason, which can be found here<\/a>, I have the 49ers signing the following players to multi-year deals, that would put them under contract through at least 2023.<\/p>\n

    WR Deebo Samuel \u2013 5-year deal, worth $102.5 million, with a $7.25 million 2023 cap number
    \nWR Cordarrelle Patterson \u2013 3-year deal, worth $18 million, with a $4.38 million 2023 cap number
    \nLG Laken Tomlinson \u2013 5-year deal, worth $50 million, with a $4.345 million 2023 cap number
    \nDE Nick Bosa \u2013 5-year deal, worth $152.5 million, with a $16.35 million 2023 cap number
    \nDE Arden Key \u2013 4-year deal, worth $16 million, with a $2.1 million 2023 cap number
    \nDE Jordan Willis \u2013 2-year deal, worth $4 million, with a $2.515 million 2023 cap number
    \nNT D.J. Jones \u2013 5-year deal, worth $45 million, with a $5.965 million 2023 cap number
    \nWLB Dre Greenlaw \u2013 4-year deal, worth $14 million, with a $2.185 million 2023 cap number
    \nSLB Azeez Al-Shaair \u2013 3-year deal, worth $10.5 million, with a $3,183,333 2023 cap number
    \nCB Levi Wallace \u2013 5-year deal, worth $40 million, with a $4.1 million 2023 cap number
    \nCB K\u2019Waun Williams \u2013 3-year deal, worth $10.5 million, with a $3.88 million 2023 cap number
    \nFS Jimmie Ward \u2013 4-year deal, worth $45 million, with a $6.786 million 2023 cap number<\/p>\n

    So, with these players signed, the 49ers would then have 29 players signed for 2023, and when you add in their 2022 draft picks, current ones, they\u2019d have 38 players signed, for a cap commitment of $197,429,289, with $4,909,999 in dead money, for a total cap commitment of $202,339,298, which would give the team, with 38 players signed, $22,660,712 in cap room, but with enough players to make up the top 51 rule, the 49ers would have $12,910,712 in cap room.<\/p>\n

    Of course, the biggest question will be, \u201cCan the 49ers extend WR Brandon Aiyuk?\u201d<\/p>\n

    My answer, YES, YES, they can.<\/p>\n

    What I would do if I\u2019m the 49ers with Aiyuk is simple, take his current 2023 base salary, $2,318,821, lower it to the minimum of $1.01 million, add in $1,691,179 to make a $15 million signing bonus, with the prorations being $3 million from 2023-2027, with him being signed through 2028, and his 2023 cap number would only go up by $1,691,179 to $5,678,427, which would bring the 49ers salary cap room for 2023 down to $20,969,533 with 38 players signed, and with 51, it\u2019d be $11,219,533.<\/p>\n

    Of course, the 49ers would have a few free agents that should be here in 2023, most notably, ERFA wide receiver Jauan Jennings, & RFAs left guard Colton McKivitz, & defensive tackle Kevin Givens.<\/p>\n

    Jennings\u2019 ERFA tender would be $940,000, while I\u2019d conservatively estimate McKivitz, & Givens 1-year deals to be worth around $1.41 million each, which would give the 49ers $18,900,712 in cap room, with the 41 players signed, but with 51 signed, they\u2019d have $11,400,712, which isn\u2019t bad at all.<\/p>\n

    Of course, the 49ers would have some good UFAs that they may want to bring back, namely, running back Raheem Mostert, right guard Daniel Brunskill, right tackle Mike McGlinchey, defensive ends Samson Ebukam, & Charles Omenihu, cornerbacks Jason Verrett, & Emmanuel Moseley, free safety Tarvarius Moore, & strong safety Jaquiski Tartt.<\/p>\n

    Honestly, none of the players above would be locks to return, as the 49ers need to see what these players bring to the team for 2022, as well as what they could bring long term, so the 49ers, if needed, can go into free agency, and add\/replace to the team\u2019s roster.<\/p>\n

    The 49ers would also have their special teamers as UFAs, place kicker Robbie Gould, punter Mitch Wishnowsky, & long snapper Taybor Pepper, but I\u2019d expect the 49ers to find replacements, as Gould may end up retiring after 2022, while Wishnowsky, & Pepper aren\u2019t long term locks.<\/p>\n

    The 49ers will need to find a long term answer at center, as I can see Alex Mack retiring, which would save the team $3.1 million after factoring in the top 51 rule, which would give the 49ers $22,000,712 with 40 players signed, and with 51 they\u2019d have $14,500,712 in cap room.<\/p>\n

    So, as you can see, the 49ers can, and certainly will, in my opinion, extend Brandon Aiyuk, along with already extending Deebo Samuel, & Nick Bosa later this offseason.<\/p>\n

    Of course, my mock offseason plan isn\u2019t 100% going to happen, some may, some will, some won\u2019t happen, we\u2019ll see, as the NFL\u2019s legal tampering period opens up a week from this Monday, so things should start to get going, especially with the likely trade of Jimmy Garoppolo.<\/p>\n
