CB Dontae Johnson

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: 50/50

Analysis: Johnson is a guy that the 49ers seem to just keep bringing back, whether it was under the Jim Harbaugh/Trent Baalke era, or now under the Kyle Shanahan/John Lynch era, and while he hasn’t been the best player, he did show he can be a solid backup, especially at the slot, so if the 49ers decide to keep 6 cornerbacks, Johnson is the likely that player, if not, he’s likely to be on the teams practice squad.

59. FS Jared Mayden

2021 Cap Number:
Chance At Making Active Roster: 50/50

Analysis: With the injury to Tarvarius Moore, it opened the backup free safety spot, which should come down to Mayden, Tony Jefferson, & Tavon Wilson, Mayden is likely the longshot of the 3, but I expect Mayden to at least make the teams practice squad.

58. SS Marcell Harris

2021 Cap Number: $1,244,118
Chance At Making Active Roster: Pretty much a lock

Analysis: I have Harris as pretty much being a lock, unless he doesn’t look good in training camp, and preseason, with someone like Tavon Wilson potentially taking his roster spot, but Harris provides versatility that Wilson doesn’t, that being the ability to also play linebacker.

57. DE Jordan Willis

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Likely to start on Suspended list

Analysis: The 49ers traded for Willis last year when they were desperate for EDGE rushers, and while he wasn’t impressive, he wasn’t bad, but the issue is, he’s been suspended for the first 6 games of the 2021 season, so it’ll be interesting to see if the 49ers decide to keep him, or cut him, wait the 6 weeks, and re-sign him after his suspension is up.

56. WR Jauan Jennings

2021 Cap Number: $660,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: 50/50

Analysis: Jennings has said to have looked really good during the 49ers OTAs, and he’s one of those guys who had the difficult 2020 offseason do to COVID-19, but I do think Jennings has what it takes to be a contributor, potentially as a slot wide receiver, but we’ll see.

55. WR Richie James Jr.

2021 Cap Number: $939,143
Chance At Making Active Roster: 50/50

Analysis: I really liked James when the 49ers drafted him as a 7th-rounder out of Middle Tennessee State, but since then, he’s only shown flashes of being a good slot WR, and since taking over as the teams Punt Returner, he’s had a muff in the Super Bowl, and he lost one in 2020 that led to points, so I can’t justify saying he’s a lock, he needs to prove he can be consistent, because the 49ers only have 2 wide receivers they can trust, Brandon Aiyuk, & Deebo Samuel.

54. TE Charlie Woerner

2021 Cap Number: $825,258
Chance At Making Active Roster: 50/50

Analysis: I really like Woerner, I think due to the odd 2020 offseason, he just didn’t have the chances needed to be ready to be thrown into playing his rookie year, and while I have him as a 50/50, I do think he makes the roster, but he will have to improve on his blocking, which is something he prides himself on, so if he does that, he’ll be a lock for the 2021 roster.

53. RB JaMycal Hasty

2021 Cap Number: $780,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: Longshot

Analysis: This one sucks, because he’s my highest rated player that I don’t have as a lock or even 50/50 to make the roster, mainly due to the fact that there are 4 backs ahead of him, so hopefully, baring injuries, he’s brought back to the teams practice squad.

52. SS Tavon Wilson

2021 Cap Number: $900,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: 50/50

Analysis: Like with Mayden, Tavon Wilson will be battling for the backup free safety spot, but also he will battle with Marcell Harris for a backup strong safety spot if he doesn’t get the backup free safety spot, if not, he’s definitely a practice squad candidate.

51. FS Tony Jefferson

2021 Cap Number: $850,000
Chance At Making Active Roster: 50/50

Analysis: Jefferson will be battling with both Jared Mayden & Tavon Wilson for the backup free safety spot, and he should be looked at as the favorite for that spot.

So with all of this said, I thank everyone for reading article, as always you can follow me on Twitter @49erscap, or leave a comment below, and I’ll get back to you.

[5,4,6,3,2

post-2763","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-analysis","category-exclusive","category-prediction","category-roster","category-salary-cap
["GET
