With week 6 behind us, and week 7 a few days away, I think it\u2019s time to take another deep look into the 49ers current 2023 salary cap situation as it stands today.<\/p>\n
Right now, they have 75 players signed, with $167,233,918 in committed salaries, plus $30,084,208 in dead money, for a total of $197,318,126 in total committed salaries, putting the team $40,202,142 under their 2023 adjusted cap of $237,520,268, giving them the most salary cap room in the NFL.<\/p>\n
Now, below are the 75 players signed, with their 2023 salary cap number.<\/p>\n

2023.<\/p>\n QB Sam Darnold \u2013 $1.8 million, $1.2 million of it is due to Darnold playing 25% of the Panthers offensive snaps, plus winning those games, the other $600,000 is unknown at this time.<\/p>\n WR Deebo Samuel \u2013 $150,000, this is for Deebo rushing for 3 or more touchdowns.<\/p>\n C Jon Feliciano \u2013 $1,000,000, this is for a undisclosed percentage of offensive snaps.<\/p>\n SS George Odum \u2013 $250,000, this is for Odum being named 2nd-team All-Pro last season.<\/p>\n P Mitch Wishnowsky \u2013 $100,000, this is for punt percentage for inside the 20-yard line.<\/p>\n Next, let\u2019s look at what players have incentives that are considered NLTBE, and what the player can earn in total.<\/p>\n QB Sam Darnold<\/p>\n He gets $300,000 for each game he plays 25% of the 49ers offensive snaps, and the 49ers win that game, a total of $5.1 million<\/p>\n He gets $1 million for playing 50% of the regular season offensive snaps, and the 49ers make the playoffs<\/p>\n He gets $100,000 for each playoff game he plays 50% of the offensive snaps, a total of $400,000.<\/p>\n All in all, he can earn $6.5 million in incentives, with $1.8 million counting playtime.<\/p>\n DE Clelin Ferrell<\/p>\n He can get $250,000 for hitting 50% to 79.9% in defensive snaps.<\/p>\n He can get an additional $250,000 if he hits 80% or more in defensive snaps.<\/p>\n If he gets 5-6.5 sacks, m he gets $100,000, he\u2019ll get $150,000 for 7-10.5 sacks, and a $250,000 for 11 or more sacks, a total of $500,000.<\/p>\n He can also earn $500,000 for making the First Team All-Pro team.<\/p>\n In total, he has $1.5 million in incentives.<\/p>\n DT Kevin Givens<\/p>\n He can earn $100,000 for an undisclosed percentage of defensive playtime.<\/p>\n WLB Dre Greenlaw<\/p>\n He can earn $500,000 if he\u2019s named to the Pro Bowl.<\/p>\n SLB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles<\/p>\n He can earn $500,000 for an undisclosed percentage of defensive playtime.<\/p>\n CB Charvarius Ward<\/p>\n He can earn $250,000 for being named to the Pro Bowl.<\/p>\n He can also earn another $250,000 if he\u2019s named 1st or 2nd team All-Pro.<\/p>\n All in all, he can earn $500,000 in incentives.<\/p>\n FS Tashaun Gipson Sr.<\/p>\n He can earn $300,000 for a combination of stats, & being named to the Pro Bowl.<\/p>\n SS George Odum<\/p>\n He has an undisclosed amount for various triggers, but we do know that $250,000 counts against the 2023 salary cap for him being named to the 2nd Team All-Pro last season.<\/p>\n P Mitch Wishnowsky<\/p>\n He can earn $450,000 for various different triggers, with $100,000 of it counting against the 2023 salary cap.<\/p>\n Projected starting right tackle Colton McKivitz also has incentives in his deal, but those are unknown at this time for the amount or trigger.<\/p>\n Next, let\u2019s look at what kind of adjustments\/credits the 49ers can get back in 2024.<\/p>\n First off, the 49ers are projected to be $38,306,511 over the 2024 salary cap, which is projected to be $256 million, but that\u2019s with just 43 players signed, so when they have enough players signed to get to the top 51 rule, they\u2019d be $44,666,511 over, so any amount will help greatly.<\/p>\n Before I go over what the 49ers can get back in 2024, let\u2019s look at the 43 players signed for 2024, with their cap number.<\/p>\n Now, let\u2019s look at what the 49ers can get back in 2024.<\/p>\n First up are the veterans.<\/p>\n WR Chris Conley \u2013 The 49ers should get back all of the $400,000 that they gave out to Conley, as he was elevated for the teams\u2019 week 3 game against the Giants, but thus far they\u2019ll for sure get back $207,444.<\/p>\n WR Willie Snead IV \u2013 $250,000, The team, as long as Snead remains on the practice squad, will get back the $250,000, as his salary is $370,800, but thus far they\u2019ll for sure get back $175,822.<\/p>\n DE Austin Bryant \u2013 $381,822 out of $550,000, and as of now, the 49ers will get back $ at least the $155,222.<\/p>\n DT T.Y. McGill Jr. \u2013 $370,800 out of $400,000, but if McGill, who is on the 49ers\u2019 practice squad, gets elevated for gameday, then the 49ers should get back the entire $400,000, but as of now, they\u2019ll get back for sure $144,200.<\/p>\n SLB Marcelino McCrary-Ball \u2013 $100,000, as of now he\u2019s earned $84,000 for being on the Jets practice squad.<\/p>\n That\u2019s a total of $1,502,622.<\/p>\n Next are UDFAs that were given guarantees in their base salaries.<\/p>\n FB Jack Colletto \u2013 $100,000, as of now Colletto has earned $84,000.<\/p>\n C Corey Luciano \u2013 $5,000, as of now Luciano has earned $84,000, but they\u2019ll only get back $5,000 of it.<\/p>\n G Joey Fisher \u2013 $115,000, as of now Fisher has earned $84,000.<\/p>\n Luciano is on the 49ers practice squad, while Fisher & Colletto are on the Steelers practice squad, so they would get back $220,000, for a total of $1,722,622 between veterans & UDFA base salary guarantee paybacks.<\/p>\n They also gave out the following to players not on their, or another teams\u2019 practice squad.<\/p>\n RB Ronald Awatt \u2013 $5,000<\/p>\n RB Khalan Laborn \u2013 $30,000<\/p>\n WR Shae Wyatt \u2013 $35,000<\/p>\n DE Spencer Waege \u2013 $40,000<\/p>\n MLB Mariano Sori-Marin \u2013 $30,000<\/p>\n FS Avery Young \u2013 $10,000<\/p>\n That\u2019s a total of $150,000, but right now they wouldn\u2019t get back any of it since none are signed to a practice squad.<\/p>\n The team will also get back $8,971 for each game that Brandon Allen is the emergency 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0QB, as he has a $152,500 per game roster bonus, but the emergency 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0QB doesn\u2019t get credit for a per game roster bonus game check, so far they\u2019d get back $53,824, which is 6 weeks worth of his per game roster bonus.<\/p>\n Right now, the 49ers would get back $993,512 out of a possible $1,875,122.<\/p>\n I also need to mention that the 49ers have 4 players that could\/will see base salary increases, Elijah Mitchell, Aaron Banks, Deommodore Lenoir, and Talanoa Hufanga, with Hufanga already guaranteed to see his base salary escalate to the 2nd<\/sup>-round RFA tender level, which would be $4.901 million.<\/p>\n Now, for Mitchell, Banks, & Lenoir, they would likely see their base salaries escalate to the original round tender level, which is projected to be $3.124 million, so all in all, that\u2019s an extra $9,533,416 added to team commitments, putting them $47,839,927 over with 43 players signed, and $54,199,927 over with 51 players signed, so the team will need to create cap room next year with the options to create cap room listed below.<\/p>\n RB Christian McCaffrey \u2013 $8,472,000 (Restructure)<\/p>\n WR Deebo Samuel \u2013 $15,877,600 (Restructure)<\/p>\n TE George Kittle \u2013 $9,752,000 (Restructure)<\/p>\n LT Trent Williams \u2013 $15,072,000 (Restructure)<\/p>\n DE Randy Gregory \u2013 $10,096,000 (Restructure)<\/p>\n DT Arik Armstead \u2013 $12,960,000 (Extension or Restructure)<\/p>\n MLB Fred Warner \u2013 $11,340,000 (Restructure)<\/p>\n WLB Dre Greenlaw \u2013 $5,580,000 (Extension or Restructure)<\/p>\n CB Charvarius Ward \u2013 $9,148,000 (Extension or Restructure)<\/p>\n Now, let\u2019s look at the teams\u2019 pending free agents.<\/p>\n UFA:<\/strong><\/p>\n QB Sam Darnold\n
