With the offseason now winding down, and the 49ers set to report for training camp on July 26th<\/sup>, let\u2019s take a look at a potential extension for running back Matt Breida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I believe Breida\u2019s market value, or what he should be looking for is in the $3.6 million, to $4.95 million range, so here are those running back contract comps according to OverTheCap.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First up is Dion Lewis, who signed a 4-year deal, worth $19.8 million with the Tennessee Titans back in 2018, with an average of $4.95 million a year, and guarantees of $8.25 million, with $5.75 million being fully guaranteed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now as for Breida, I\u2019d expect a 3-year deal for him, in the $4 million to $4.25 million area, with per game roster bonuses in the $200,000 to $250,000 range, and yearly workout bonuses in the $50,000 to $100,000 range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019d also expect Breida to get in the neighborhood of $5 million in guarantees on a team friendly deal, with likely just the first year being guaranteed, base salary, and a guaranteed roster bonus, also a possible small signing bonus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now Breida is a restricted free agent next offseason, and this offseason\u2019s 2nd<\/sup>-round tender was $3.095 million, so I\u2019d expect Breida to receive the same 2nd<\/sup>-round tender, only I\u2019d expect it to be in the $3.1 million or more range, depending on how high the cap raises. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
