With the retirement of center Alex Mack, & the signing of the entire 9-man draft class, I think it\u2019s time to take an updated look at the 49ers 2022 & 2023 salary cap situations.<\/p>\n
Right now, the 49ers have 90 players signed for 2022, with a total cap commitment of $232,184,670, plus $6,750,226 in dead money, for a total cap commitment of $238,934,986 for 90 players, but their top 51 comes up to $208,439,896, putting the 49ers $4,084,665 under their 2022 adjusted cap.<\/p>\n
Of course, Jimmy Garoppolo is taking up $26.95 million, which means if\/when the team decides to offload him, they\u2019ll end up saving $25.15 million in cash, and $24.255 million in salary cap room, which could be used towards mending fences with Deebo Samuel by giving him a large contract, along with Nick Bosa, who is also in line for a new deal.<\/p>\n
As for 2023, the 49ers have 43 players signed, for a cap commitment of $183,532,507, with $16,459,999 in dead money, for a total cap commitment of $199,992,506, putting them $25,007,494 under a projected $225 million cap, while that\u2019s with just 43 players signed, with 51 players signed, the 49ers would have $19,007,494 in cap room.<\/p>\n
So, as you can see the 49ers are in a good position salary cap wise, as long as they offload Garoppolo, they could, conservatively carryover $15 million in cap room from 2022 to 2023, which will help the team with pending free agents, and\/or replacing them, signing free agents, etc\u2026<\/p>\n
