So, there\u2019s been some confusion about the 49ers being able to sign their 2022 draft class, and I\u2019m here to clear the confusion up.<\/p>\n
First off, the 49ers have a rookie pool of $7,519,119, that\u2019s the maximum slot value that their draft class will cost, the minimum is $7,446,446, but that\u2019s really irrelevant, as players are now getting full slot value, all the way from pick #1 to the last pick.<\/p>\n
Below are the 49ers 2022 draft class, and their 2022 salary cap number, based off of the maximum slot value.<\/p>\n
Round 2(#61st<\/sup>)- EDGE Drake Jackson, USC – $1,071,344<\/p>\n Round 3(#93rd<\/sup>)- RB Tyrion Davis-Price, LSU – $928,826<\/p>\n Round 3(#105th<\/sup>)- WR Danny Gray, SMU – $917,255<\/p>\n Round 4(#134th<\/sup>)- RT Spencer Burford, UTSA – $873,014<\/p>\n Round 5(#172nd<\/sup>)- CB Samuel Womack III, Toledo – $775,831<\/p>\n Round 6(#187th<\/sup>)- LG Nick Zakelj, Fordham – $752,590<\/p>\n Round 6(#220th<\/sup>)- CB Tariq Castro-Fields, Penn State – $783,003<\/p>\n Round 6(#221st<\/sup>)- NT Kalia Davis, UCF – $738,003<\/p>\n Round 7(#262nd<\/sup>)- QB Brock Purdy, Iowa State – $724,253<\/p>\n Of the 49ers 9 draft picks, only the first 3 picks will count against the top 51, along with their other 6 draft picks\u2019 prorated bonuses, which comes to $3,289,119.<\/p>\n Now, I have the 49ers at $451,616 under their 2022 adjusted cap, with players 49-51 costing $895,000 each, which is a total of $2.685 million.<\/p>\n So, if we add the $2.685 million & the current cap room, we get $3,136,616, & the draft class would, again, cost $3,289,119, which puts the 49ers $152,503 over their 2022 adjusted cap if they were to try & sign all 9 picks.<\/p>\n So, the 49ers need to create a little over $153,000, which is very easy, as they can post June 1 Dee Ford, which does save $1.12 million in cash, but just $225,000, this is because one of those players making $895,000 would take Ford\u2019s spot on the top 51.<\/p>\n This is how the $3,289,119 is broken down.<\/p>\n Drake Jackson – $1,071,344 cap number<\/p>\n Tyrion Davis-Price – $928,826 cap number<\/p>\n Danny Gray – $905,759 cap number<\/p>\n Spencer Burford – $168,014 prorated bonus<\/p>\n Samuel Womack III – $70,831 prorated bonus<\/p>\n Nick Zakelj – $47,590 prorated bonus<\/p>\n Tariq Castro-Fields – $33,003 prorated bonus<\/p>\n Kalia Davis – $33,003 prorated bonus<\/p>\n Brock Purdy – $19,253 prorated bonus<\/p>\n And for the $3,136,616 available, this is how it\u2019s broken down.<\/p>\n Player 49 – $895,000 cap number<\/p>\n Player 50 – $895,000 cap number<\/p>\n Player 51 – $895,000 cap number<\/p>\n Current Cap Room – $451,616<\/p>\n So basically, Drake Jackson, Tyrion Davis-Price, & Danny Gray take over players 49-51 on the top 51\u2019s spot, basically canceling them out, & then the remaining 6 picks\u2019 prorated bonuses count, so that\u2019s how you get the $152,503 in cap room needed.<\/p>\n So, hopefully this clears up any confusion about what amount the 49ers need to sign their draft picks, as yes they need $7,519,119 in total cap room, but that won\u2019t count fully until week 1 of the 2022 NFL season.<\/p>\n
